The Combined Major in Canadian Literature is a specialised undergraduate programme, unique in Canada, which is offered jointly by the Departments of French and English at the University of Victoria, B.C., Canada. Founded in 1988, this programme is an excellent example of interdisciplinarity in the Humanities. Highly specialised, this degree programme is a Bachelor of Arts degree composed of selected literature courses in Canadian and Québecois literature, as well as those courses needed to satisfy the regular requirements for a B.A. The term “Canadian Literature” is formally recognised on students’ transcripts. Students take introductory and basic courses in the first and second years of the programme, including History of Canada (HIST 130), and then take a considerable number of courses in Canadian literature and culture from the French and English Departments.
Please contact the program advisor, Dr. Marie Vautier, mvautier@uvic.ca, 250-721-7375.
