The process...!! ! ! ! !• Students will first be introduced to the terms “ratio” and

“proportion” and how they can be applied to art

• Ratio: a comparison of two numbers (1 inch to 1 foot)

• Proportion: a comparison of two equal ratios (comparing the length of one line on a small square to the length of the same line on a larger square)

• Common Core Standards:• CCSS.Math.Content.6.RP.A.1 Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to

describe a ratio relationship between two quantities.

• CCSS.Math.Content.7.RP.A.1 Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measured in like or different units.

• CCSS.Math.Content.7.RP.A.2 Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.

The process...• Students will be given a small photocopied square

and a larger piece of blank paper or poster board

• Students will use ratio and proportion to transfer the photocopied image on to their paper.

• After they students finish with pencil, I approve the drawing and they go over it with sharpie.
