Memorial Day Sunday, May 29th, found the congregation at Cold Spring Chapel steeped in the celebration of God and America. Opening services began with the singing of our National Anthem as mem-bers of the Color Guard from the Costello-Monahan-Brown Post #964 introduced the Stars and Stripes.
Commander James Dixon led the gathering in the Pledge of Allegiance and Adjutant Timothy Brown gave a short invocation and salutation for those missing in action. It was a day like no other in the his-tory of Cold Spring Chapel, where faith, patriotism, and family honor were the identi-fying emblem of the day.
After the invocation by Pas-tor Mary Bryant, Roll Call be-gan and named all those who have served God and country so vigorously and so freely. They are: Dale C. Bryant, Dick-son Brown, Howard R. Bryant, Timothy A. Bryant Sr., Wil-liam K. Bryant, Kim Bryant, Richard L. Bryant, James M. Hunter, William Freiermuth, Edwin Jonas, Timothy Hall, Daniel Mege, Tammy Bendyk, Ben Ponczek, James Dixon, and Robert Reagan.
Also recognized for service were those who have passed on. They were: Charles Shaf-fer, E. J. Donofry III, Howard Wilbur Bryant, George Ste-phens, Reed Jay Schweighofer, Louis Schweighofer, Frederick
Schweighofer, and John David Szarka.
The next generation of cha-pel veterans who are current-ly serving include: Timothy A. Bryant Jr., Kolin Bothun, and Emma J. Lawson, whose grandparents are also mem-bers of the chapel.
All veterans received an American Flag lapel pin pre-sented by students: Savannah Rake and Allyson Whitmore. “It was a day of fiery preach-ing, gut-wrenching patriotism and an innate goodness that permeates the bodies, minds, and spirits of the entire con-gregation who have found
their center in Jesus Christ and in America. Those great warriors who are mentioned above have fought in the Civil War, Iraq, Kuwait, Korea, Bos-nia, Vietnam as infantrymen, sailors, marines, paratroopers and our next generation serves as stalwart infantry soldiers and combat medics. “I can-not stress enough the depth of emotion and the dyed in the wool faith and patriotism that lives within all of us at Cold Spring Chapel. We are proud of and we love our veterans. They are truly the lifeblood of American freedom, said Pas-tor Bryant.”

The Chamber Gallery is proud to present an exceptional Solo Ex-hibition entitled “The Best Things in Life by Free: The Nature Pho-tography by Nancy Free” at The Chamber Gallery Carbondale, Pa., located in the historic Greater Carbondale Chamber of Com-merce Building, 27 North Main Street.
The Opening Reception will be Friday, June 24, 2016 6-8 pm with entertainment by Jacqueline Paluszek, song stylist, accom-panied by professional guitarist, Patrick Fling along with other special entertainers who will complete the experiential eve-ning with “The Songs of Nature and the Beauty of life”. Nancy Free will be in attendance to an-swer questions concerning her photographs. Refreshment will be offered and the evening is free and open to the public.
According to The Cham-ber Gallery Director, Ruthanne Jones, “We are so pleased to offer Nancy’s incredible wildlife pho-tography in exhibition format. Nancy Free, a long time citizen of Carbondale, has traversed the area landscape with camera at the ready, for the last 20 years, capturing the fleeting moments of Nature’s time-the creatures, floral and fauna with her “eagle eye” and abiding reverence for animals and the “Nature World”. Patience, Persistence and Perse-verance are qualities which de-scribe Nancy’s dedication to this highly difficult and specialized genre of photography which is her chosen passion. I would say that over the course of time many Facebook lovers have viewed Nancy’s countless beautiful im-ages on the web and I am so ex-cited that her fans will be able to now view and purchase these framed and printed inspiring treasures to bless their homes with the joy and beauty of our re-gion’s hallmarks through the gift of Nancy’s love and eyes.”
“God and nature awe me.”, stated Nancy, “My photogra-phy soothes my soul. It gives me
great pleasure when something I’ve captured moves someone else, or inspires a warm memory. I’m happiest when I admire my hometown area, or hit the road with a camera in hand.
My photos are moments, or memories, or personal smiles. They depict creatures, or land-scapes, or events, or beautiful things God has peppered this planet with, and I just happened to be curious enough, or appre-ciate that beauty enough to aim a camera at it and hit a shutter button in hopes of freezing that moment; capturing that beauty, and creating a keepsake that will forever bring me back to that view, and the emotions and won-der I was feeling when inspired to reach for a camera in the first place.”
As art critic, Roy Whitman has eloquently suggested “When one views Nancy’s photographs, you are certain to come away with a feeling of excitement and wonder of life and a deep faith in a higher Power. One thing remains intact, reason, spirit and faith intersect in her work like lighted candles dedicated to the living and life itself. We are left delighted and even a little speechless by her amazing acumen and insight into Nature and natural beauty.”
“The Best Things in Life by Free: The Nature Photography of Nancy Free” will be on exhibition through out the summer until September 12, 2016. The Cham-ber Gallery is Free and Open to the Public 9 am -5pm, Monday through Friday.
Special Sunday viewings of the exhibit can be made by ap-pointment through contacting Ruthanne Jones with the infor-mation of time and number of people in advance by calling and specifying “Sunday Visit” at The Chamber at 570-282-1690.
“The Best Things in Life by Free: The Nature Photography of Nancy Free” is and affirming ex-perience and will be enjoyed and loved by the entire family and people of all ages.
