While investigating cost savings in its IT services, AIB calculated that 100TB of data storage had an annual TCO of €840,000 (£743k). By moving to a Cloud based solution, the cost of this storage would be reduced to €125,000 per annum, a saving of over 85% (£111k p.a.).

The New York Times was able to use the Cloud to convert 11m scans of newspaper articles for display on their website By using the Cloud, the 11m documents were converted in 24 hours, at a cost of approximately $288 (equivalent to £180)
