Importance of High School Planning for College Factors in thoughtful post high school planning:

Grades / GPA: the main factor colleges consider for admittance as well as for scholarships. Colleges see both weighted and unweighted GPA.

Test scores: (such as ACT or SAT) are another factor used for college admittance as well as for scholarships.

Rigor: They want to see that you are challenging yourself while still earning good grades.

Activities / Community Service/Jobs

Teacher and counselor recommendations (start getting to know your teachers and counselors)

Essays (eventually you will write college essays)

Important Information Credit/ No Credit due Sept. 13th

Allows you to try classes without worrying about earning an A or B (must earn a C- or better to get credit)

Some selective colleges may not accept CR/NC

California State colleges do not accept cr/nc for their creative art requirement (as of Fall, 2017)

One elective per semester

See you teacher for this form

Academic Level Change due Sept. 13th

Talk to your teacher first if you want to level change and ask for a form

Space: must be available in the desired course and any other courses that may need to be changed to accommodate the request.
