WELCOME TO LEADERSHIP ORLANDO CLASS 94!

I’m honored to serve as your class chair and delighted to participate with you during the next eight months.

Exciting experiences have been uniquely designed to give us a fi rsthand look at the Central Florida Region,

its challenges and opportunities. We also have the honor of being the fi rst Leadership Orlando class to

participate under the newly formed Orlando Economic Partnership.

Class 94 assembled for the fi rst time on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. One of our goals for this day was

to learn about the seven-county Central Florida Region and to get us thinking about where are we going,

the issues we are facing, and our role in ensuring the region’s future is bright and prosperous. A priority

that is near and dear to my heart is supporting and enhancing educational/skills preparedness in the talent

pipeline. We will focus on this theme throughout our journey and how it can help to create an enviable quality of life that is broad-based and

sustainable.

We also got interactive with Bob Kodzis, Jr., the Creative Guy at Flight of Ideas, Inc., who broke down some barriers and prepared us to

be ready for anything that Leadership Orlando, or life in general, may send our way. Now, with an open mind, I believe we are ready for

anything! At the end of the day, we enjoyed a great turnout for networking and cocktails at our welcome reception hosted by the 2017

Leadership Alumni Association.

Although the second day of our orientation session was disrupted by Hurricane Irma, we picked up where we left off with our team building

program that included an exciting downtown scavenger hunt in the rain and building Clean the World hygiene kits for hurricane relief.

(Remember, Soap Saves Lives!) We also heard about the UCF Downtown Project. One day, we will all look back and remember we were there

for this part of Central Florida history. Special thanks to Casey Barnes and the Orlando Economic Partnership for reminding us through the

You Don’t Know the Half of It campaign that our region is more than just a great place to vacation; it’s also an amazing place to live and do

business.

For the remainder of our Leadership Orlando journey, our lineup of events and activities will be outstanding, and your active participation in

Leadership Orlando is critical to our success. I encourage you to share your diverse backgrounds, to learn more about each other and how

we can make a positive impact here in Central Florida. Along the way, we will engage with the leaders of our region, make new friends and,

of course, have fun!!
