UNCC Campus Ozone Project

Chris SpryGeog 2103 Intro to GIS

12/4/09

Study Procedure

• Group members were Chris Spry, Artie Pryer, and Luke Eller• 4 study locations were chosen on UNCC campus• Data was collected on 4 days: 9/21, 9/25, 9/28, 9/29• Ozone levels, wind speed, and temperature were recorded

everyday.• The following slides will include a map of Ozone levels for each

day, a map of wind speed for each day, and 2 graphs showing the relationship between ozone, wind speed, and temperature.

• Maps and graphs were created using ArcMap and Excel to visually display data.

Findings

• Ozone levels appear to be higher near heavy traffic locations such as the site at Hwy 49 and the site at the track.

• Ozone levels appear to be lower near areas of large vegetation such as the site at McEniry (across from Van Landingham Glen).

• No correlation was made between temperature, wind, and ozone due to the similarities in site values and the small

size of the study area.
