What’s Chingay

National event Held anually ‘chingay’ is derived from 妆 艺 ,which

means “the art of masquerade and costume” in hokien.

Held to Improve the dampened festival chinese new year mood after the ban of firecrackers in 1972.

Chingay Theme 2014

theme : “colors of fabric, one people ， 布海同心” specifically displayed at the ending

of the parade to show the unity of

singaporean creating a better singapore.

Introducing Singapore’s culture - Folks Songs sang showcasing the Singapore spirit - 360, Batik Fabric welcoming the horse year - Chinese dance, Parade of Horses
