Benjamin Burton

Character Development: Lumiere (Overall)1. Basic Information:a. Name: Lumiereb. Gender: Malec. Age: Middle aged (mid 40s)d. Marital Status: In a relationship with Babette, although he has history with practically every other girl in the castle (with the exception of Mrs. Potts and perhaps Madame De La Grande Bouche); Lumiere fancies himself a ladies mane. Level of Education and Employment: Employed as the matre d of the Castle; I have had little formal education, but an apprenticeship with the previous matre d of the castleincluding culinary education and training in sophistication/mannersis assumedf. Other:i. I have been transformed into a candelabraii. Arguably the best friend of the Beastiii. Friends with Cogsworth, although we clash quite ofteniv. Suave, very polite, and extremely hospitablev. More attuned to the needs of the castles inhabitants than to the rules of the castlevi. Loses much of his poise when he is excited, extremely nervous, or emotional2. Objective:a. I want to break the enchantresss spellb. I want Belle and the Beast to fall in lovec. I want the Beast to present himself as a gentleman to Belled. I want to make Belle feel welcome and lovede. I want to protect the castle and its inhabitants from harmf. I want all the castle characters to take personal responsibility for the spell, and to learn the lessons that the enchantress intended for us all to learn (hospitality, acceptance)3. Motive:a. The reason I want all of the above is because I want all the inhabitants of the castle (including myself) to become human again, and to be able to resume the life that we had before the spellwith the exception of improved morals of hospitality and acceptance.4. Obstacles:a. The time restriction of the roseb. The Beasts treatment of othersc. The Beasts ungodly manners and inexperience with empathyd. The mobs attack on the castle/Gastons intention to kill the Beaste. The restrictions the castle rules (i.e. the rules the Beast keeps making) place on my ability to foster a love-filled environment between Belle and the Beast5. Tactics/Strategy:a. Be overly hospitable to anyone who finds us, in the hope of luring in a girl that could fall in love with the Beastb. Extend the warmest welcome possible to Belle in order to make her happy and feel loved in the Castlec. Teach the Beast the manners and poise he needs to win over Belled. Remind others of the responsibility we had in the curse being put on the castle, and the responsibility we have in helping to try to break the cursee. Organize a defense of the castle from the mob based on the advantages of being enchanted objects6. Expectations:a. The Beast and Belle will fall in loveb. The Beast will follow my lead on matters related to lovec. Cogsworth will defer to my judgment as to how to best woo Belle and the Beast together7. Resolution?a. Belle and the Beast do fall in loveb. The Beastafter many attemptsdoes learn a considerable amount of mannersc. The castle is successfully defended from attackd. The Enchantresss spell is broken and everyone becomes human againe. I become human again, continue to serve as the Princes matre d and friend, and end up with Babette in the end

How does my character walk and talk? Why?Lumiere walks with poise most of the time, due to his intense training to become matre d. Even after becoming a candelabra, he has trained himself to move with grace and professionalism. However, when he becomes particularly excited or emotional (i.e. during interactions with Babette), he starts to waddle, or hobble a little bit morethis is due to his being a candelabra, and the restrictions on his movement that that causes. Lumiere talks in a French accent due to growing up in France, and speaks precisely, articulately, and intelligentlywhen he isnt overly emotional or excited (i.e. Books with words!)What else is impacting my character at any given moment? The fact that he is a candlestick The stress of the roses time limit His interest in any attractive woman who might happen to be in the room
