Phasing out the IIA Advanced Diploma and replacing it with the Qualification in Internal Audit Leadership (QIAL)
Chartered Internal Auditor status (CMIIA) will remain and it will be awarded by completing the three QIAL exams
Continued support for PIIA and CMIIA
New tuition programmes for the CIA and QIAL
Transition arrangements
Existing students can choose to:
Complete your current qualification and then choose whether to accept the CIA and/or credit towards the QIAL
Complete your current module(s) and then switch to the new qualification
Begin new modules of your existing qualification, pass these and then switch over
Stop studying your existing qualification and switch over immediately (from 22 June)
Transition for IIA Diploma students
Factors to take into account when deciding how to proceed:
The credit(s) you will earn for completed modules (see later slide)
If you switch from the IIA Diploma to the CIA you will earn the CIA designation, not the PIIA
If you complete the IIA Diploma you can then accept the CIA and use both designations if you choose
You will likely need to hold the CIA if you intend to continue your studies to become chartered (via the QIAL qualification)
CIA holders must comply with IIA Global’s CPE requirements to report 40 hours of education each year
Transition for IIA Diploma students
The CIA comprises three exams. If you have already passed modules for the IIA Diploma then you can claim credit (exemption) from parts of the CIA.
