In late May and early June 2016 flooding began after several days of heavy rain in Europe,mostly France, Germany and Belgium. In France the most affected areas were northernregions, then the S eine river tributaries, with the Loing and Ouanne rivers and then theCentre – V al de Loire region, with the Cher and Indre rivers (Loire river tributaries) burstingtheir banks. S ome areas reported the worst flooding seen in a century.The Emergency Management S ervice R isk & R ecovery activation ‘’’EMS N-035 : Economicimpacts of floods on agriculture sector in Centre-V al de Loire region, France’’ has beenrequested by the Ministère de l’Intérieur, Direction Générale de la S écurité Civile et de laGestion des Crises (COGIC), on behalf of Direction R égionale de l’Agriculture, del’Alimentation et de la Forêt (DR AAF) du Centre – V al de Loire in order to map flooding, infermaximum flooding and flood water depths, and assess the damages and especially thoserelated to the agriculture sector, of the floods occurring in areas located in Centre – V al deLoire between May and June 2016.

The present map shows the economic impact on the agriculture sector concentrating on themain cereal crops, within the maximum flood extent over the area of Centre-V al de Loireregion during the flood event of end May - beginning June 2016.S tatistics of the impact on the main crops and per water depth class are given in theassociated report.The thematic accuracy of this analysis of the economic impact on the agriculture sector andassociated crop statistics depends on the accuracy of the input information (max flood extent,agriculture declarations, crop production and mark et price report).The maximum flood extent and water depth information are simulated products. Therefore,their quality depends on the accuracy of the input data. S ome errors may subsist due to thepresence of outliers.
