Intro

• The Cain Project at Rice University wanted a Sakai tool that allows instructors to utilize the materials developed by their 10 years of Research

Cain Project in Engineering and Professional Communication

• Prepare students to lead through excellence in communication

• Cain Project resources enable faculty in the schools of natural sciences and engineering to equip students for articulate, persuasive communication

• Works with students to improve their presentation skills, verbally and through posters and other written formats

• Central repository• Shared resources• Part of course site• User friendly• Instructor selects what to use

Why

• We have all these Resources, how can all the courses take advantage of them

• Materials developed over 10 yrs of research• Cain Project want to share this with the

campus• Sakai growing in popularity

How

• Different Roles can view different resources• Selective Release dates option• Can choose who can add materials to the Central Repository• Central Repository comments and Instructor comments

– Explanation of what resource is and also Instructor can add why the student should look at it, what they can learn, etc

• Order of materials in Central Repository is reflected in tool• Folders reflect Sections/Subsections

– Other files are ignored
