HISTORY

The foundation of a university library in Timisoara was established on december 30, 1944 through a royal decree signed by King Michael I.

The library opened itsgates only in 1948.

DEVELOPMENT

In 1956, the library profile became encyclopedic due to some of the professors who

donated their private libraries to the university.

In 1979, the University Library of Timisoara received a new building.

in 1992, through a Government decree, the library got legal status and became

independent of the University.

In 1995, we started to use ALEPH Library Software which allowed us to create a

database and computerize all our services.

On October 1, 2008, a new modern building opened. It was equipped with high level

technologies that help us provide better and faster services to our users.
