-National Geographic- Human Body 101 (3 minutes)

We are made up of CELLS! We have about 200 different types!

Each person contains more than 100 trillion cells in total 5-50 million of our cells die every minute

400 cells can fit on the head of a pin!

We made of CELLS?

• Cells are the Building Blocks of LIFE

• Cells Tissues Organs Systems

• What Cells have you heard of?

– Lung cells– Blood cells– Muscle cells – Reproductive cells– Bone cells– Skin cells

• Can you guess what body system they belong to?

Body SystemsNervous system

Detects and interprets information from the environment outside the body an from within the body Coordinates the body’s response to changes in its internal and external environments

Skeletal system  Supports the body, protects it and works with muscles to allow movement.Stores mineral reserves and provides a site for blood cell formation

Integumentary system (skin)

Protects the body, keeps water inside the body & regulates body temperatureServes as a barrier against infection and injury

Endocrine system    Controls many regulatory processes by mean of chemicals (Hormones)

Immune systemsHelps protect body from disease, fights of disease causing

mircroorganisms (Bacteria and Virus).

Muscular system Helps produce voluntary movement, circulate blood, and move food

Reproductive system Produces reproductive cells

Respiratory system Provides oxygen and removes carbon dioxide

Excretory system Eliminates wastes and maintains balance

Circulatory system Carries needed material to and waste away from the body. Brings materials to

cells, fights infection, and helps to regulate body temperature

Digestive system Converts food so it can be used by cells
