Lent begins this week on Ash Wednesday. May this season of preparation help us to see clearly the work of God in our lives. May we produce goodness from the stores of goodness in our hearts as we hear in today’s Gospel.

Altar Servers Benjamin Zapalac Fullness of Truth Lenten Catholic Conference You are invited to “O Sacrament Most Holy: Eucharistic Mira-cles Yesterday and Today!” conference at Prince of Peace Catho-lic Church in San Antonio, Texas, March 29th & 30th, 2019. This dynamic conference will lead you into a deeper devotion of the Real Presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, and how each reception of Holy Communion can be a life-changing experience! To register and more details, visit: Full-nessOfTruth.org or call toll free: (877) 218-7884 or (877) 21TRUTH.
Lenten Listening Challenge Adding one hour of Catholic radio each day will strengthen your practices of prayer, fast-ing, and almsgiving during Lent. Tune in to KEDC 88.5 FM on the radio or listen on the app for iOS or Android devices: KEDC (iOS) or KEDC (Google Play).
Second Collection on Ash Wednesday—March 6 Each Ash Wednesday every parish in our diocese takes up a col-lection for World and Home Missions. The Catholic Church in the U.S. has a strong history of supporting worthy causes in our own parish communities and beyond. This combined collection will benefit areas in the Church that are greatest in need, includ-ing Black and Indian Missions in the U.S. Additionally, there are many places beyond our borders where the Church is poor, com-munities are scattered, and priests are few. This special appeal helps Catholic communities in Latin America, Africa and Cen-tral and Eastern Europe, by underwriting evangelization, reli-gious education, education for future priests, and training for lay ministers. Thank you in advance for your support.
From Ashes to Easter The diocesan Ashes to Easter Lenten Mission Campaign begins on Ash Wednesday, March 6th. We invite each family to take a mission box home in support of the missionary works of the Dio-cese of Austin. As the Catechism states, “The seasons and days of penance in the course of the liturgical year (Lent, and Each Friday in memory of the Lord) are intense moments of the Church’s penitential practice. These times are particularly appro-priate for spiritual exercises, penitential liturgies, and pilgrimag-es as sins of penance, voluntary self-denial such as fasting and alms giving, and fraternal sharing (charitable and missionary works)” (CCC 1438). Please support this long-standing cam-paign.
