JULY 2017
I was born on July 12, 1908 in New York City, New York. I enjoyed making people laugh as one of my quotes is “Laughter is an instant va-cation.” Some people call me “ Mr. Television”.

I hope everyone is doing well. Unfortunately the weather has not been the most cooperative, but it has still been exciting at Victoria Court for me. I have been here for about three months and have seen some amaz-ing hard working employees and a tremendous amount of team work. If you see an employee doing something special for a resident, family or co-worker, please complete a Certificate of Praise card (you can obtain from front desk). At end of the month we will be reviewing all the Certifi-cate of Praise cards and selecting the Employee of the Month. We will continue to have monthly family meetings where we can sit and enjoy a nice meal and discuss any concerns you may have. My door; as well as the leadership team’s doors; are always open. I have noticed many families meeting with department heads to discuss their loved ones needs. Our outdoor courtyard is ready for you to enjoy the beautiful flow-ers, scenery and tranquility. If you have any friends you would like to re-fer to Victoria Court, please see myself for details regarding the referral bonus. Good friends make good neighbors. Have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Hello Friends and Family, I hope you are all having a wonderful Summer season! Our residents have surely been enjoying this beautiful weather by going outside in the courtyard as much as the possi-ble. We have begun our gardening projects outside; pretty soon we will be enjoying the variety of tomato, green peppers and cucum-ber plants! I have officially started taking the new bus out and the goal is to take a drive every morning! I would like to Thank all our friends and fami-lies who have continually come to support our various events at Pacifica Victoria Court! And a special Thank You to Mayor Allan Fung for attending The Armed Forces Thank You Breakfast on May 19th. It is always a pleasure to welcome you to our home! Rhoda Smith, AD, CDP

Who am I?
I am Milton Berle.
Milton Berle was known by a couple of famous nicknames; “Uncle Miltie” as well as “Mr. Television”. He performed on-
stage, on the radio, in movies, and on TV. He was beloved by many who enjoyed laughing and good comedy!
Some famous Milton Berle quotes are: “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door”; “You can lead a man to Congress, but
you can’t make him think.” Our residents still enjoy watching The Milton Berle Show!

A message from our Nurse:
Did you know?
A few facts about hand wash-ing and hand hygiene. 80% of communicable diseases are transferred by touch. Touching food with contami-nated hands spreads food-borne illnesses like salmonel-la, E. Coli, and diarrheal infec-tion. Touching the face with contaminated hands spreads illnesses like pneumonia, the cold, and the flu. Proper handwashing can reduce diar-rhea by 40%, and reduce res-piratory infections by 20%. The number of bacteria on our fingertips doubles after we use the bathroom. Recommended hand washing time is 15 sec-onds. Ideal hand washing time is 30 seconds. Damp hands are 1000 times more likely to spread bacteria than dry hands.
Help prevent the spread of sickness in your community. Wash and dry your hands
thoroughly before each meal and after you use the bath-
room.
Be well everyone!
Keep Moving Exercise should be an im-
portant part of your day. We have two exercise programs
