CARTOON STRIP SEQUENCE

Water Cycle

Theory

A cartoon strip sequence is a series of cartoon-style pictures that shows a sequence of events. The pictures are likely to be labelled or annotated.

The purpose of using a cartoon strip sequence is to explore the learners’ ideas about the sequence of events in a process or series of processes.

Examples of use

• Learners draw a picture and write a brief description.

• Less fluent writers might not add any writing or may select word from a word bank.

• They can be used at the start of an activity to invite learners to share initial ideas/preconceptions/predictions.

• They can be used at the end of an activity to assess learning.

Tips

• Learners should discuss their ideas with others – this will help them to clarify their own ideas.

Draw pictures to show what happens to

water once it reaches the

sea.
