-Started playing golf when she retired.-Group of ladies play everyweekend

Kathy ChoProfessional Golfer

“Every golf club I get shouldlook as good as it works”

Started using male clubsbecause: -They did not help her reach her potential -They were not suitable for professional competition

Goals based in consumer:

Looks are a great necessity

Eciency has to be obvious

The putter has to be ready for professionals to use

They have to have the quality comparable to male professionalputters

Design criteria (goals)

PanoramaCycling is an environmentally friendly activity.

Panorama takes the opportunity for the cyclist to have an ecofriendly choice of saving energy, materials, packaging and bulk.

ConsumerRobert and Maria Age: 34 years old Upper-middle class-One Son:Tobby-They are REALLY trying to be green, they use they car all week but on weekends theytry to ride their bikes. -Newly Eco-concious couple -They can be out on their bikes at night or late afternoon

Goals based in consumer:

Safety for the child AAsafety belt and leg protectionProvide entertainment for the child AAcomfortAvoid the use of toxic materials

Avoid packaging

Allow visibility at night

Consumer

Bulky packagingThe seat is a SINGLE piece of plastic. AA(Reduce the amount of extra pieces integrate to main piece)The rest of the components are small

Goals based in eld observation

Simplify installationReduce/eliminate materialsMake transportation more eective

Current packaging

Installation

The extraction of oild and salt makes a big impact to the environment

Additives and toxins are released to the environment in the manufacturing process

The seat is one big piece making the packaging big and bulky

Fresh water is used and it is not recycled

There is no specic way of having PVC recycled and the whole seat is sent to landls after use

There is no mainenance or upgrading in the product

Issues

Strategies

Find alternative materials for PVC or nylon Use only one material

Make pieces t to make transportation more ecient

Use recyclable materials

Use of waste water

Recall materials to be recycled

Make it easy and cheap for the consumer to mantain the seat and provide upgrade options

Design criteria (goals)

Eliminate packaging Minimum packaging is used eliminating boxes

Reduce harmful materials Reclaimed straps Polyethylene frame and seat allow simple recycling Retroreective vinyl is used minimally

Child comfort Hammock-like seat allows body contouring (adapatation) and air circulation

Entertainment for the kid Give a child a view of the road allows the child to appreciate the view.

Recall materials to be recycled Reclaimed straps Polyethylene has a high number os useful lives Carbon credits ofset the footprint of retroreective vinyl

Easy installation Only one tool is needed for installation

Protection for the kid Frame allows kid to have support Retroreective vinyl is used in strategic places to make the child visible from all angles at night

Insentives: -Allow customers to ship the product for free to the company. -In return they will get coupons to use with the brand or towards the purchase of carbon credits

Carbon: -Retro-reective vinyl is needed, carbon credits will be purchased by Panorama to oset the material used until a better option becomes available in the market.

Packaging: -The elimination of packaging boxes will allow more product to be shipped in the same space making more ecient the transportation process

Take it back: -Polyethylene can be used reused many times saving the extraction of raw materials and energy used in transportation and extraction
