The curriculum of the AE program is designed for students with diverse backgrounds. All BBA first-year students are required to take the core courses of Principles of Economics I/II, which will provide sufficient econom-ics training for pursuing the AE degree. As the undergraduate program emphasizes on understanding and applicaon, students without economic background are not disadvantaged in their studies.
Economics background important?
No. AE students can tailor-make the curriculum to their preferences. Apart from the three core courses, AE students can complete their degree requirement by taking ONLY FOUR concentraon elecves. Most of AE courses emphasize intuive reasoning, not complicated modelling. While there are certainly some quantave elements in a few courses, experience suggets that even students without strong mathemacal background can manage these contents aer parcipang a voluntary summer workshop, which covers most of the necessary mathemacal knowledge for the undergraduate study.
Advanced mathematical skills required?
Professional career outlook after graduation? In addion to the likely employment for every BBA graduates, job opportu-nies abound in the banking and commercial sectors (e.g., treasury, global risk management and business intelligence). Such jobs require data analy-cal and broad-based knowledge that AE alone offers. AE graduates may also become research analysts in business strategy development and public policy analysis for consulng firms, government and public ulies.

Promising Career Prospects
Applied Economics (AE) oers knowledge of economic decision making and data analytics – a combi-nation that denes current business and economy, as well as your career prospect.
The program aims to enable students to apply economic reasoning in analyzing individual markets, macroecono-mies and international economics, as well as making decisions and formulating strategies for business and government. It also prepares students for developing careers in data analytics by providing training in quanti-tative and statistical analysis, big data analysis, program-ming (e.g. Python and R), machine learning, and so on. Students can customize their learning experiences to t their preferences and career aspirations.
In a fast-changing world, the market for routine-cogni-tive jobs is trimming. The demand for graduates with specic skills may wane, but not for those who can apply advanced analytics to improve decison making. Hence, AE graduates have excellent career prospects. Our training also paves way to graduate studies, which might enhance their further career advancement.
Applied Economics - a perfect blend of data analyt-ics and economic decision making.
