Leading the way to a more sustainable future.
On behalf of the Charles County Commissioners, you are invited to attend the upcoming 2011 Green Symposium. The Symposium will feature panels of leading experts on smart growth and sustainability in lively and informative discussions and presentations. Throughout the day, we hope to engage you – our region’s top businesses and community leaders – in meaningful dialogue on present and future strategic partnership opportunities for businesses to create, grow and prosper in a sustainable future.
Charles County values a sustainable, smart growth approach to our community development needs. We rec-ognize that it is imperative to respect and preserve Mother Earth in every decision we make – being ever mindful of the environment.
Seeking to continue our County’s leadership in Maryland’s smart growth practices toward a more sustainable future, the day will offer a top notch program, including:
•Opening Keynote: (Former) Governor Parris Glendening, pioneer and champion of smart growth, and current president of the Smart Growth Leadership Institute;
•A number of informative morning and afternoon panels on topics including Smart Growth, Sustainability in the Built Environment, and Energy Efficiency, Conservation and Clean Energy;
•A special lunchtime roundtable discussion – Today’s Barriers & Tomorrow’s Opportunities in Adopting and Profiting in Sustainability – hosted by NBC4 personality and Going Green Anchor, Wendy Rieger; and
• A mix of local, state and federal officials including Richard Hall, Maryland Secretary of Planning.
Finally, following the Symposium we invite all event participants to join us, select government and indus-try panelists, policy-makers, and professionals for a Green Networking Mixer at the Greene Turtle in La Plata.
Register today, and plan to join us for this unique and informative day. Registration forms are enclosed, and online registration is available at www.CharlesCounty.org/GREEN. We look forward to seeing you there!
