INTRODUCTIONMembers of MINDTCE15 Organizing Committee gather the best national and international NDT experts here in Kuala Lumpur to share their view, experience, their latest equipment, system and technological development as well as research findings with all of us here. We have the President of the American Society for NDT (ASNT), Mr. L. Terry Clausing as the Plenary Speaker and the President of the Japanese Society for NDI (JSNDI), Prof. Soichi Hirose as one of the invited speakers, representing two leading industrial nations that play a major role in the development of NDT technology in the world.
More than 45 papers on various subjects related to advanced NDT methods, radiation safety and security, conventional and digital radiography, phased array and other advanced ultrasonic and eddy current methods and many others will be presented to you. In addition, all exhibition booths displaying the latest products and technologies available in the current market are fully booked. This is a great opportunity to witness the most up to date and sophisticated equipment and system that help industries to run smoothly and avoiding equipment failure.
Your participations means a lot to the Society. It symbolizes our togetherness and unity in our effort to make NDT Technology as the axis for industrial development in Malaysia. Book your time and be with us at MINDTCE15.

Pre-conference Workshop - 22nd November 2015
‘STATUS, TECHNOLOGIES AND APPLICATIONS’
About the Course Digital Industrial Radiography (DIR) has emerged as the future of radiography application in Non Destructive Testing (NDT). This technique differs from conventional radiography by the use of digital detectors to restore digitized images. Various types of digital detectors have becoming available with the advancement of the DIR system. For instance, Computed Radiography, Flat Panel or Fluoroscopy is the most widely used in industries. These digital detectors system allow the user to do image processing for image enhancement and defect recognition. The technology offer high energy radiation applications ranges from 10 kV to several MeV.
In DIR system, the main advantage is its ability to significantly reduce the radiation dose in comparison to film applications. In view of this perspective, DIR has attracted the interest of NDT communities and researches around the world especially in the R&D sector as well as for the industrial applications. NDT communities also realize the potential of this system due to other benefits which it can offer i.e automatic defect detection, reusability, environmental friendly, digitally formatted and post processing freedom.
At present, several codes and standards such as EN, ASTM and ISO have been developed for DIR applications. Deep understanding of these codes and standards is necessary to meet the requirements needed for detector selection and image quality of various digital detectors.
Due to this reason, Malaysian Society for Non Destructive Testing (MSNT) through Malaysia International NDT Conference and Exhibition 2015 (MINDTCE15) offer a Pre-Conference Workshop on ‘Status, Technologies and Applications’ to provide an insight into the world of DIR and understanding the codes and standard as their guidelines during inspections or R&D activities.
Who Should Attend:Researchers, NDT professionals, service provider, scientists, design and manufacturing engineer, welding and corrosion inspector, academicians, QA and QC personnel, NDT managers and personnel in related fields.
What To expect:This workshop will compromise a blend of overviews of DIR technologies, couple with introduction in existing standard practices on DIR applications.
Topics covered:• Current status on DIR technologies and standards• Software and tools for DIR• DIR with computed radiography (CR)• DIR with digital detector arrays (DDA)• Exposure requirements for DIR• Inspection of welded components by DIR• DIR for computed tomography (CT)

Uwe Zscherpel is a staff scientist at BAM Berlin since 1992 and since 1996 project leader of the group “Digital Radiology” in the Division “Non-Destructive Testind - Radiological Methods” of the Federal Institute for Material Research and Testing (BAM) in Germany. His main working field is digital image processing in industrial radiology. This includes NDT film digitization, digital image analysis and pattern recognition as well as the digital reproduction of reference film catalogues for welding and casting. With the introduction of new radiographic image detectors like imaging plates and flat panel detectors for industrial applications, standardization and relibility of these new techniques are additional working fields. He is also active in education and training of personnel within the German NDT society of NDT (DGZfP) as lecturer and examiner for industrial radiology and as IAEA expert for expert missions and training courses in digital industrial radiology around the world.
