Occasionally cadets may be “inspired” after watching
movies like Full Metal Jacket, An Officer and a
Gentleman, or The D.I., and attempt to emulate
fictional drill instructors at CAP activities by screaming
and shouting colorful epithets and demeaning
comments. CP leaders should be alert to this risk, and
immediately correct the situation by counseling the
cadet. “The measure of leadership is not loudness.”
