THE ARTICBy Chiara

Introduction Welcome to the Artic! One of the coldest places on earth because the sun’s rays hit the equator and the Artic is further away from the equator than any other place. The word “Artic” means “near the bear”.

FeaturesThe artic is a very, very cold, windy, snowy place. The lowest temperature in the Artic was -68c! Amazingly, it’s packed with life, from the microscopic (Zooplankton) to the huge (Beluga whale) but there are hardly any plants.

AnimalsAs I said, the Artic is packed with life, like Polar Bear, Puffins, Nawal and many, many more.

Non-LivingAs well as living things, non living are just as important. The Narwal and the Polar Bear need water because the Narwal breaths it and the Polar bear needs it for food. (Polar bears eat seals: they need water)

The Polar BearThe polar bear is an AMAZING animal! It’s fur isn’t really white, it’s clear. It traps in sun light making it white! It lives on seals in the ice flow. They are SO strong they can easily tear a human apart! They live in dens and are a mammal. It’s Latin name is Ursus Maritimas.

ConclusionI hope you have learned something about the climate, the features ,the animals, the polar bear and the non-living things in the Artic.
