UPCOMING FELLOWSHIP HOUR SCHEDULE

July 21 @ 10:30 am - Thank you to the BSLC Congregation for praying for the adults and youth who participated in the 2019 LCMS National Youth Gathering from July 9-15 in Minneapolis. Plan to join us TODAY DURING THE FELLOWSHIP HOUR AT 10:30 am to hear about this amazing trip from the youth and adults who attended.

July 28 @ 10:30 am - Pastor Reinke will begin a Bible Study series on The Words and Actions of Jesus beginning July 28. Join us during the fellowship hour as we explore this important topic. Youth and adults are invited to engage in hearing who Jesus is and what He did so that we can become more like Jesus.    Do you have ears to hear?

August 25 @ 10:30 am - On August 25th, Rev. Dr. David Kim will be sharing a word with us on Sunday morning at 9:30 am, followed by a mission presentation related with how we might engage and be energized for our mission to seek the lost, disciple the found, and multiply disciple makers and churches.  Dr. Kim is from South Korea and has been a missionary in Ecuador for many years.  He is an LCMS pastor who engages with churches across the United States and the world, training and equipping them to make disciples as Jesus did.  For more information go to glocalmission.org.

INSPIRINGTHINGSLast week I (Janie) put an article in thebulletinonthestorybehindthehymn, “ItisWell withMy Soul,”which is one ofmyfavorite hymns because the story ofSpafford’s(thelyricist)walkwithGodissoinspiring.

A few years ago, I read the book, “TheHiding Place” which is the story of CoriTen Boom. A brief summary of the plotfollowsandifyouhavenotreadthisbookyet,Ihighlyrecommendit.

Corrie and Betsie Ten Boom are middle-aged sisters working in their father'swatchmaker shop in pre-World War IIHolland. Their uneventful lives aredisrupted with the coming of the Nazis.Suspected of hiding Jews and caughtbreakingrationingrules, theyaresenttoaconcentration camp, where their Christianfaith keeps them from despair andbitterness.Betsieeventuallydies, butCorriesurvives, and after the war, learns to loveandforgiveherformercaptors.

I am certain that each of us can think ofsomething that inspires us — a hymn, atune, songlyrics, orthestoryofsomeone’slife and testament to their faith inGod. Ifsomethingcomestomind, pleasesendtheof`ice a quick note or tell the ParishSecretarywhatinspiresyou.Iwouldliketoputa smallweekly column in thebulletinwithstoriesthatinspire(contributorswillremainanonymousifdesired).
