Purpose of the job

To work with the Venture Solutions Funds team in managing the existing portfolio of Venture Capital fund investments, currently 19 Enterprise Capital Funds, 8 Catalyst Fund investments, UK Future Technology Fund and the Capital for Enterprise Funds.To participate in the operation activities of deploying new funds, from marketing through to due diligence and reporting.

Main duties

Manage the portfolio management process: ensure that the contact database is up to date and information is received on a timely basis for quarterly portfolio meetings; and assist with the portfolio reporting.

Assist the Senior Investment Managers in the analysis and reconciliation of financial information, including fund reports and accounts, in some instances working with the funds to achieve this;

Manage the work in progress processes for both the ECF and Catalyst programmes; Assist with marketing activity. Assist in the due diligence process for potential new investments, undertaking financial analysis and modelling, desk

research and background checks. Undertake research into sectors and the Venture Capital Market, assimilating and presenting the data for both external

use in marketing/communications collateral and internal reporting and due diligence.

Knowledge and experience

Experience of working in a commercial, banking or Finance environment, either full-time or as part of an internship. Demonstrate a degree of financial knowledge/experience or a willingness to learn. A working knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint and Word. Knowledge of data analysis. Experience of working flexibly in a team environment to deliver required results. Experience in effective verbal communication (especially in meetings) and in producing concise and comprehensible

written reports. Evidence of strong organisational ability.

Internal and external stakeholdersThe role requires day to day interaction with other areas of the Bank for example, the Risk, Legal, Finance, Reporting and Communications teams. Experience of effectively building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders is required.

Budgets / fund size / scope of investments

The current venture capital funds under management total more than £1bn, including a rolling programme to invest in 4-7 new funds per year under the Enterprise Capital Fund and VC Catalyst programmes.

The Funds team reports to the MD, Venture Solutions. No direct management responsibility, but must be able to work effectively as part of a team. The Analyst will work alongside the investment managers and Director, Funds to manage the programmes.
