TRANSCRIPT

For the first time since their arrival in 2014, Uber and Lyft will not be

operating in Austin during SXSW…

…local Austinites and visitors alike wonder: how can we bring

them back?

It all comes down to trust…

Taxis have FBI background checks.

Uber and Lyft earn trust through their feedback

mechanism.

Ridesharing apps have a challenge in their

model: it is relatively easy for a driver to share their account with another driver,

who was not screened. With Taxis, the strength of background checks erodes over time and

standards vary by state. So who wins at trust?

What is the solution?

Where might the sweet spot between innovation and regulation reside within the sharing economy?

What role does identity play in building trust and lowering risk within sharing economy communities?

If Austin can figure this out, it will provide a blueprint for ridesharing apps across the nation.

AUSTIN HAS UNIVERSAL IMPLICATIONS

Intrigued? Bring our panel to SXSW Interactive 2017.
