For one week, millions of young people around the world will join a growing movement to
generate new ideas and to seek better ways of doing things. Countries across six
continents are coming together to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, an initiative
to inspire young people to embrace innovation, imagination and creativity. To think big.
To turn their ideas into reality. To make their mark.
Each November, Global Entrepreneurship Week connects young people everywhere
through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential
as self-starters and innovators. Students, educators, entrepreneurs, business leaders,
employees, non-profit leaders, government officials and many others will participate in a
range of activities, from online to face-to-face, and from large-scale competitions and
events to networking gatherings.
Through this initiative, the next generation of entrepreneurs will be inspired and can
emerge. In doing so, they will begin to acquire the knowledge, skills and networks
needed to grow innovative, sustainable enterprises that have a positive impact on their
lives, their families and communities.
About Global Entrepreneurship Week
Our Vision
4
Global Entrepreneurship Week will seek to
Inspire:
Introduce the notion of enterprising behavior to as many young people under the age of
30 who otherwise might no have considered it as a path in their life
Connect:
Network young people across national boundaries in a global effort to find new ideas at
the intersection of cultures and disciplines
Mentor:
Enlist active and inspirational entrepreneurs around the world to coach and mentor the
next generation of enterprise talent as they pursue their entrepreneurial dreams
Engage:
To inform opinion leaders and policy makers that entrepreneurship is central to a nation’s
economic health and culture and to provide different nations with the opportunity to learn
from each other on entrepreneurial policy and practice.
About Global Entrepreneurship Week
Our Objectives
5
The Basics
Our LogoThe Global Entrepreneurship Week ‘compass’represents the intersections of ideas, cultures,
information, people and places.
The array of vibrant colors that radiate out through
the circular band give a sense of diversity, variety
and optimism. The full color spectrum also
symbolizes the inclusive international reach of
Global Entrepreneurship Week.
The logo represents a navigator providing direction
and guidance. The nature and language of the
information can be altered according to purpose
using a range of different ‘typographic spokes’. This
provides flexibility and ensures the compass appears
consistently across a range of applications.
The rounded typeface adds a human, tactile element
which, when used in combination with color, results
in a dynamic, energetic logo.
6
The tagline for Global Entrepreneurship Week is ‘unleashing ideas.’
In written form, the tagline can be translated to the native language for that
country. The translation does not have to be direct, it is more important to find
a corresponding expression that essentially means the same. Verbs like
‘releasing’ or ‘setting free’ are common enough and appear in every
language and will provide suitable alternatives to ‘unleashing ideas’.

The Basics
Our Domain & WebsiteThe domain for the Global Entrepreneurship Week website is unleashingideas.org. This
website will serve as a central source for information about the initiative, including
highlights from participating countries.
Promoting the global domainHosts are allowed to use and promote their own country domain (e.g.
www.tiresuasideiasdopapel.org.br in Brazil) as the main point of entry on all marketing
materials as long as they agree to prominently promote the global domain –
unleashingideas.org – in a similar fashion. In these cases, the global domain should be
no smaller than two-thirds (66%) of the font size used for the country domain. For
example, if the country domain appears as Vag Rounded 18 point, the global domain
should be no smaller than 12 point.

The Basics
Our Fonts: PrimaryThe primary font is Vag Rounded.
This font is to be used for the creation of
all hard copy print files.
Never apply effects such as drop shadows,
blurs and outlines to any typeface.
This is a rounded typeface that is both
friendly, contemporary and legible. This fits
with the forward thinking optimism of the
‘Global Entrepreneurship Week’ brand.
Vag Rounded is available for purchase from
www.linotype.com/1571/vag-family.html
9
The alternative fonts are Helvetica or Arial.
These fonts are to be used when distributing
electronic files since Vag Rounded (which is not
a common font) will not display correctly on
computers without the font files installed.
Helvetica and Arial are the two most common
fonts and very similar to one another to an
untrained eye.

The Basics
Our ColorsThe ‘compass’ is made up of a band of colors. Here you will find a breakdown of the
color values for both CMYK (print) and RGB (on-screen). The final color value is a dark
gray used in the wordmark.
11
Treating Our Logo
Primary LogoPrimary Logo
The primary version of the Global Entrepreneurship Week
logo contains three spokes. This is the primary version of
the Global Entrepreneurship Week logo; in CMYK for
print applications, RGB for screen based applications and
a grayscale version of the logo.
Translating the Primary Logo
You may translate “Global Entrepreneurship Week” to
promote the global initiative in your own language.
See the example from Brazil on the right.

12
Treating Our Logo
Secondary Logo: CountryThe secondary versions of the ‘Global Entrepreneurship
Week’ logo contains four spokes with additional information
such as the country or event year.
Country logo (English)
Guidelines for treating your country logo:
• Add your country name to a fourth spoke to create your country’s
logo
• Country may fall on the right hand side of the logo
• We recommend that the country is colored in the national color
• The name of the country is uppercase
• When it is necessary to add a year this is done by adding ‘09’ to
the end of the country
• Do not add anymore spokes
Allowable variations:
• This version too may be translated (see example on right)
• You may substitute your country web domain or not use one
• Moving the fifth spoke to the right-hand side of the logo is
acceptable

Treating Our Logo
Adding Additional InformationAs time comes closer to ‘the Week’ it may become necessary to add additional
information. This page shows examples of how this is achieved.
The line protects our logo from the additional info and we now have four lines to add
extra information. The top two lines always say ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week’ the
next two lines can be adapted to add information such as city, date, venue and event
title.
17
Treating Our Logo
Incorrect Usage1. Do not distort the logo
2. Do not reproduce the logo in
outlines
3. Do not fill the logo with a photo (although you may fill the compass on its
own as a separate design element)
4. Do not place over a busy area of
an image
5. Do not rotate the logo (except when following minimum size
standards – see p.13)
6. Do not change the colors of the
logo
7. Do not use the logo without text (or
any portion) unless it appears in
conjunction with the primary logo
8. Do not add a sixth spoke to the
logo

A number of Hosts have either already
created or at least considered launching a
year-round national campaign to promote
entrepreneurship – featuring Global
Entrepreneurship Week.
For those who have not already launched
a year-round campaign, we strongly
encourage you to consider adopting the
compass and branding of the Week to
help strengthen our growing ‘Unleashing
Ideas’ network.
Please consider the following options (see
the following slide for examples):
Co-branding
National Campaigns
1. Translate ‘Unleashing Ideas’ into your
language and use it with the compass
2. Use “Global Entrepreneurship Week /
[Country]” as the year-round name
3. Use another name with the compass
20
For those Hosts who have already launched and branded a year-round campaign, we
encourage you to incorporate the compass into your brand. Regardless, it is vitally
important that you at least recognize all activities during Global Entrepreneurship Week in
your country with the official logo.

21
Global Entrepreneurship Week has
identified a handful of Official Activities that
it will promote to all Hosts in more than 75
countries. The global planning team has
guides & promotional material templates
available to enable Hosts to organize these
activities in their country.
In order to replicate these activities in your
country, you must use the guides and
promotional materials provided by the
global planning team -- allowing for
translation and customization. Global
Founders and Global Sponsor should
never be removed.

Official Activities
22
Global Entrepreneurship Week will
recognize a select number of events
around the world that align with its vision
and objectives as Featured Events.
These Featured Events will be promoted to
an extensive network of thousands of
organizations and millions of people in
more than 75 countries that participate in
the Week.
In return, it is expected that these events
be co-branded to create an immediate
visual link to Global Entrepreneurship
Week.
The following slides present four primary
options for co-branding these events.

Featured Events
24
Option 3:
Incorporate the compass (or a portion of it) into your existing logo and brand.

While Enterprise UK closed its doors in April 2011,
we intend to recognize its contribution in helping
launch and grow Global Entrepreneurship Week
through its first three years.
You no longer should include the Enterprise UK (or
Make Your Mark) logo on your national GEW
materials. However, you may include language in the
description of your campaign similar to that used in
the 2010 Impact Report.

History
Global Entrepreneurship Week, launched in
2007 by Carl Schramm, President and CEO of
the Kauffman Foundation, and Gordon Brown,
former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom,
was expanded into 100 countries in just 36
months by the Public Forum Institute in
Washington, DC, and Enterprise UK in London
with financial support from the UK
Department for Business, Innovation and
Skills.

Photographic images should always be of a professional quality. They should be
engaging and uncluttered with areas for placing type.
The themes of the photography should be metaphorical evoking the spirit of Global
Entrepreneurship Week.

29
All communication needs to reflect the
strength and confidence of the brand.
Type is an important tool in achieving
this.
Designs should be bold and avoid using
any unnecessary elements that may
cause distraction. Clean minimal design
Is elegant, professional, & harmonic.
