1. WorldCat.Did you know that as a student, you can borrow

books from other local libraries, and get books delivered to UST from libraries across the country?

The first step is using WorldCat to find out what books other libraries have.

Access WorldCat by clicking “Research” on the library homepage.

Then, on the Research page, click “Databases”

Next, in the Databases By Title list, click “W” or scroll down.

Then click “WorldCat”.

The WorldCat catalog searches the holdings of thousands of libraries worldwide.

You can also access this catalog at www.worldcat.org.Carefully review the options on this search page to

make your searches more efficient.

Here are results from a WorldCat search. The “Libraries Worldwide” link tells you which libraries own the book.

This book is held by the University of St. Thomas.

When you click on “Libraries Worldwide,” Texas libraries are listed first. Here, we see that Houston Public Library holds America’s Favorite Poems. You can click on this link to access their catalog.

The book’s record in WorldCat provides essential information about the book, such as author, title, publisher and ISBN. Use this information to fill out an Interlibrary Loan request form.

In addition, the Rice Borrowing program lets you check out books from Rice University’s Fondren Library.

Go to askus.stthom.edu to get answers on using the library.
