Gyeongju is divided into seven districts: Bomun Lake Resort, Bulguksa Temple, Downtown, Namsan (Southern Mountain), East Bay, Seoak (Western Mountain), and Northern. Of these, Bomun Lake Resort is an all-inclusive tourist district centered around Bomun Lake. It includes hotels, condominiums, golf courses, theme parks, theaters and other entertainment facilities as well as HICO, the area’s main venue.Gyeongju Convention & Visitors Bureau’s dining guide is intended to help visitors discover all the options in the district. The guide introduces three dining zones: Bomun Lake Complex, Bukgun-dong and Bobul-ro (Bobul Lane). Gyeongju Specialties

Gyeongju Beef Tteokgalbi Sundubu SsambapBeef from Gyeongju was favored by royal cooks for the king’s table, and Gyeongju remains one of the main producers of high quality beef in Korea. Cattle raised in a clean environment and fed on fresh feed produce a rich, savory beef that many find especially appetizing.

Tteokgalbi is minced short rib that is grilled in the shape of a round rice cake. Long ago, this tender and slightly sweet dish was only served at the king’s table. But lords and ladies who were banished from court carried the recipe with them and passed it on to the people. Many restaurants in the area specialize in tteokgalbi made out of Gyeongju beef.

A type of soft tofu made by grinding locally grown soy beans in a millstone, sundubu contains no artificial flavors. It can be enjoyed on its own for the clean and wholesome taste, or used in a variety of dishes from stews to steaks to savory pancakes.

Ssambap is a rice wrap served with fresh vegetables, stews, grilled fish and more. It is a healthy way to enjoy the five food groups in one meal. Seasonal vegetables and wild edible greens that grow in the region are the highlights of this nutritious dish.
