Blessed Lord, accept this burning candle as a sign of my faith and love for You.
Like this candle, I am ready to be used in your service without asking why and to what
purpose. Even as this candle, I wish to stand in Your presence and to be consumed in the light and warmth of our Love. Please hear my prayer
and, if it is Your will, grant my petition. But above all, make me loyal and faithful to You in
all circumstances of my life. Amen.

Thoughts from Father Bob, WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Jesus’ question of the two disciples following him is one that we may be asking ourselves from time to time. It is a common experience to think about something, set out to look for it and forget what we are looking for. Maybe we get distracted or maybe we are beginning to experience old age, neverthe-less, what we may be looking for today is a secure way to live and express our faith. At the present time regular attendance at mass is sporadic and while it is available in many forms we are not always at-tentive. Hopefully when the danger has passed we will find our way back to the Lord and a faithful practice of our faith. Jesus’ question is important because de-pending on how we answer it our salvation may be at stake. Naturally because the question occurs in the context of the gospel it directs our attention to seri-ous and important issues. Are we looking for a sav-ior to follow; a more personal and inclusive spiritual life; answers to important questions or particular re-sponses to questions we consider necessary for our well being?
Jesus simply asks the disciples of John to “come and see,” to follow him and he will teach them about the way, the truth and the life they are seeking. He invites us to a similar journey. We might rely on his weekly (daily) invitation as we hear the gospel or even to pursue a careful study of his gospel that forms us as his disciples. Throughout the gospel Jesus continues to offer the invitation to everyone who will hear his message, “come and fol-low me.” To improve our faith-focus it is good to develop regular habits of prayer and devotion. To seize the opportunities to attend mass in person or virtually and when possible to receive the sacra-ments. It does not happen overnight as the apostles show us but it begins with a desire to seek the Lord, stay in his company and grow in fidelity to him. Know what you are looking for! Seek it in the most obvious places! And do not become so distracted as to forget what you are looking for. Jesus is looking for you and will give you clues on how you are to find him.
News from Father Steve… Concerning St. Norbert Church building.
As we continue to move forward as
Blessed Trinity Parish, there are times that difficult decisions and actions need to be made to remain a healthy and Holy parish community. Sometimes that means difficult pruning so that healthy growth can continue. As you know, we have been given permission to sell the former St. Norbert Church. I share with you that we have received an offer from another Christian church community who will con-tinue the tradition of offering praise and worship to the Lord since the church was built in 1957, just in a different way. In preparation for the sale of the building, most of the items in the building were removed. All statues including the stations of the cross have been taken down. The beautiful marble statues of Mary and Joseph have been relocated to the vestibule of St. Albert the Great Church for the time being. The statue of the child Jesus is now located in St. Basil Church. The processional cross in now being used for Mass at St. Sylvester Church. The stations of the cross have been taken to the diocesan center to be relocated in another
church sometime in the future. All three altars have been removed and at
the request of the new congregation, the main wooden cross will remain but without the corpus. The stained glass windows will remain with the building for the new church community to enjoy. The beautiful outdoor grotto to the Blessed Mother has been carefully dismantled and put into storage and the statue has been relocated to a temporary location at St. Albert the Great outside of the of-fice building. This spring, the grotto will be rebuilt as it was and all of the statues will be returned as they were. Once I receive final approval for the sale, I will share with all of you the details includ-ing the church community looking to purchase it.
Having just had my home parish church that I was baptized in and grew up in be disman-tled before being sold, I know personally how sad changes like these are but I also know that it is the love and fellowship of fellow parishioners that helps us all get through them. Let us offer a special prayer for the men and women who made the St. Norbert church building possible and the ways in which it has contributed to the wonderfully loving and spirit filled parish we are today!
Page Six January 17, 2021
A little boy was listening to a long and ex-cessively boring sermon in church. Suddenly the red sanctuary lamp caught his eye. Tug-ging his father's sleeve, he said, "Daddy, when the light turns green can we go?" Sometimes listening to what God has to say
is difficult. The message today is that God is calling us to be his disciples. Jesus is speaking to us all the time, but just how good are we at listening to what God has to say. Eli helped Samuel to understand that God was calling him. He said the next time you hear his voice reply: “Speak Lord for your servant is listening.” How well do we listen to what God has for us to do? God has many ways of speaking to us. He speaks through his word, through the words of our priests and deacons, and in the prayers of Mass. He might speak to us through our spouse or even our kids. But we must be listening. Listening to God is a skill that we really need to work on. Once you hear him you will begin to recognize his voice. Samuel was called by God to learn God’s voice and to respond to His call. The Corinthians were called to be Christ’s presence in the world and to live moral lives. Andrew witnessed his brother Simon Pe-ter, and they were called by Jesus to be His disciples and be the foundation of His church. God does not call just the ordained. God calls each of us as well. Do we hear His call? God calls all of us to be his dis-ciples…to be his presence in the world in a variety of ways. Are you listening?

POWER OF PRAYER I often hear when helping a friend through a tough time, “There’s nothing I can do.” And I think to myself, “Well did you pray about it?” And most times the answer is no, they have not. I have found it interesting that we as Cath-olic Christians who wear crosses and crucifixes around our necks, think in our time of need that there is nothing we can do. The answer to all of our trials and tribulations can be found through prayer. Now, with that being said it is crucial to mention that there are two parts to prayer, talking and listening. First, we express our gratitude and thoughts to the Lord AND then we spend some time in silence allowing God to speak to us. You would not go to the library, check out a book, and not read it. No, that’s silly and that’s exactly what we are doing when don’t participate in both parts of prayer. As always God bless and stay safe! -Nicholas Wolf, Youth Minister
