William Lin-Yee

William Lin-Yee is from Oakland, California.  He trained at Contra CostaBallet Centre, San Francisco Ballet School, and the School of AmericanBallet.  In 2004, Mr. Lin-Yee was offered an apprenticeship with NewYork City Ballet and joined the company as a member of the corps deballet the next year.  In 2008, he joined Pacific Northwest Ballet as amember of the corps de ballet, in 2014 was promoted to soloist, and in2016 was promoted to principal. Mr. Lin-Yee has danced works from a diverse group of choreographerssuch as; George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon,Alexei Ratmansky, David Dawson, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, UlyssesDove, Crystal Pite, Tywla Tharp, and Jean-Christophe Maillot.  He wasthe recipient of the Mae L. Wein award in 2004.In addition to his dancerepertoire, Mr. Lin-Yee composed the score to Kiyon Gaines' A Piece inP-I-E-C-E-S for Pacific Northwest Ballet's Next Step in 2011. In 2019 hecomposed the score to Price Suddarth's  White Noise  for Kansas CityBallet's New Works program.
