FIDSD implements the Market-Driven Fisheries Development Program (MDFDP thru five (5) components/activities:

MDFDP Framework:

I. Mature-Cost-Effective Technologies

- these are mature-cost-effective fisheries technologies in aquaculture, fishing and processing.

Activities include: Gathering of technologies available in all technical

units of BFAR Identification and selection of technologies that are

ready to be commercialized

II. Market Development Assistance Service

• Price Monitoring- at present FIDSD has prepared and

submitted 305 price monitoring reports to the Office of the Director copy furnished LGU-Marketing Office of Quezon City

- FIDSD monitoring team attended regular meetings on the subject called for by the

DTI, DA and LGU of QC

- consolidated price monitoring reports from the regions.

-Participation to exhibits was accompanied by seminar on fisheries, presentation of BFAR’s program in fisheries development, orientation on Market Driven Fisheries Development Program (MDFDP), and building social enterprises as exemplified by Pinoy Fishmart-MPC

-Over 2,500 copies of brochures/flyers of BFAR thrusts and programs including commercialized technologies were disseminated during trade fairs and exhibits

- Pinoy Fishmart Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PF-MPC)

This is the direct result of FIDSD’s Pinoy Fishmart Action Research Project and serves as ready-market and venue for a regular dialogue among industry stakeholders. PF-MPC is the convergence of various stakeholders in the fisheries industry.

PF-MPC promotes interaction of fish producers with buyers/consumers.

PF-MPC has received various recognitions and awards since its inception in 2005.

III. Social Organization• Los Amigos Aquaculture Producers Organization (LAACPO)

- FIDSD has conducted an orientation seminar on Fisheries Cooperativism among members of the LAACPO. This seminar fulfills the FFP Loan Requirement for LAACPO (FFP beneficiary) to become a cooperative within a period of one (1) year from the time loan was granted.

• Delian Fisherfolk Marketing Cooperative (DFMC)

- A consultation meeting with members of DFMC was conducted by FIDSD; discussions concentrated on ways to improve the coop’s regulations and by-laws, BFAR’s assistance in their product promotion and marketing and access to credit and grant fund

V. Fisheries Scholarship Program- FIDSD facilitates and manages the on-going 275 scholars in 17 state colleges and universities (SUCs) throughout the country

a. Facilitated the payment of tuition, school fees, monthly stipend, semestral book allowance, OJT, thesis & graduation support

b. Coordinated with FSP regional coordinators and SUCs re: scholars status

c. Responded to the crisis situation and problem-solved the same of individual scholars

d. Maintained and secured FSP documents and scholars records & contracts

-Administration of FSP Examination NationwideOn March 17, 2012, FIDSD spearheaded the conduct of the Industry Leaders (IL) Qualifying Examination in collaboration with DepEd and BFAR Regional Offices at 16 testing centers nationwide; 877 examinees.
