Mandate of Heaven – belief that the gods choose the rulers

Dynastic Cycle – process by which dynasties gain and lose power in China

Fuedalism – a political system in which nobles/lords are granted the use of lands that legally belong to the king/emperor. They have use of the land (and the people on it) in return for loyalty and military service as well as protecting the people who live on their estates

occur.

As a result of these events, the dynasty is seen to have lost the Mandate of Heaven.

Revolution becomes justified, and a new

family claims to have received the Mandate

and fights the old dynasty.

The invented many items still used today such as the water wheel, silk, and paper.

The were the first to have a dynasty for government.
