Quiz12-16-10

You buy a present for your math teacher. You only have enough paper to wrap the front of the rectangular box. A piece of

rectangular wrapping paper is 2 feet by 8 inches. How many

square inches will the wrapping paper cover?

What is the area the paper will cover?

To find the amount of square inches, I had to convert the feet to inches. I know there are 12 inches in a foot, so there will be 24 inches in 2 ft. To find the square inches, I found the area of the rectangle.

Speed Test

1. Get out a dry erase marker.2. You have 1 minute to complete as many problems as you can.3.We will grade in 1 minute.4. Graph your results. Keep the graph in your notebook.5. We will do this every day.

Problem of the Week & Word Problem

#3-41. You have 5 minutes to work on the

problem of the week and word problem.

2. The problem of the week must follow the Read, Think, Solve, Justify format.

3. When you are finished, turn them in.4. They are due Friday.

Accelerated Math

1. You have 10 minutes to work on your accelerated math.

2. Work out every problem.3. When you complete the practice

problems, bring them to me. If you have worked them all, I will allow you to submit your answers.

4. This is INDIVIDUAL…NO TALKING!

Math Sing-A-Long

break)

Class Work Pythagorean Theorem in the

WorldWe are going to walk around the

school and find examples of Pythagorean Theorem.

Once you find an example, you will take a picture of it.

You will use the picture later in a Pythagorean Theorem project.

Class Work Pythagorean Theorem

ProblemsYou need a sheet of paper. We will work 4 problems together,

and you will work 6 problems on your own.

Guess & Check!

Pythagorean Theorem

If a2 + b2 = c2, then the triangle is a right triangle.

a=4, b=5, c=8

42 + 52 = 82

16+ 25 = 64

41 = 64

Not a Right triangle

Is a triangle with sides: a = 4, b = 5, c = 8 a right triangle?

Class Work1 – 3: Solve for the missing side1. 2. 3.

4 – 6: Determine if the triangles are right triangles.

4. a = 6, b = 8, c = 105. a = 1, b = 3, c = 56.
