YEAR OF MERCY CORNER
Heavenly Loving Father, giver of life and gifts, look kindly on your Church, and so open the minds of your people, especially the Church leaders and guide those who will choose the new Archbishop for the Archdiocese of Regina, that, we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and provide for our ministries. We ask this through Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Day of Reconciliation & Adoration of the
Blessed Sacrament Friday, March 4 / Sat., March 5, 2016
“24 HOURS for the LORD” (Please check schedules of the
Parish nearest to You)
HOLY CROSS SCHEDULE:
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Adoration and Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. - Reconciliation is available to parishioners/visitors who would like to go for the Sacrament of Reconciliation 3:00 p.m. - Common Prayer, Benediction and Closing Prayer 5:30 p.m. - Poor Man Supper 6:45 p.m. - Stations of the Cross 7:15 p.m. - Mass
From Fr. Ron Andree Liturgy Commission, Archdiocese of Regina I wish to encourage every pastor of the Archdiocese of
Regina to implement according to local circumstances,
resources, and ability, the Lenten “24 Hours for the Lord,”
which is designated for Friday, March 4/Saturday, March 5,
2016 during this Jubilee Year of Mercy. This is to be a
diocesan-wide observance for the celebration of the
Sacrament of Reconciliation and prayer before the
Blessed Sacrament.
This initiative, initially proposed by the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, promotes throughout the world the opening of churches for an extended period of time for the purpose of inviting people to the celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The theme has been taken from the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians, “God rich in mercy” (Eph 2:4). This exercise is again strongly encouraged by Pope Francis during the Year of Mercy: "The initiative of “24 Hours for the Lord,” to be celebrated
on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Fourth Week of
Lent (March 4-5, 2016), should be implemented in every
diocese. So many people, including young people, are
returning to the Sacrament of Reconciliation; through this
experience they are rediscovering a path back to the Lord,
living a moment of intense prayer and finding meaning in
their lives. Let us place the Sacrament of Reconciliation at
the centre once more in such a way that it will enable
people to touch the grandeur of God’s mercy with their
own hands. For every penitent, it will be a source of true
interior peace." (Misericordiae Vultus, 17)

World Day of Prayer Friday, March 4, 2016 Resurrection Parish
3155 Windsor Park Rd Service at 2:00 pm - Lunch to follow
World Day of Prayer is a worldwide movement of Christian people of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year on the first Friday of March. This year the theme is “Receive Children, Receive Me”. The materials for the service have been written by the World Day of Prayer Committee of Cuba. Everyone is invited to this ecumenical gathering for prayer, fellowship and refreshments.
2nd Week in Lent: Work of Mercy focus: “I was thirsty and you gave me to drink.” Not everyone in our world knows what it is like to a have a drink of clean water. In some of the poorest countries, many of the lakes and rivers are polluted (dirty). People who use this water can get sick. We can conserve water and be careful how we use it. Try not to pollute water. You can support countries that do not have clean water. Consider making a donation equal to a drink item that is regularly bought by the family (i.e. a gallon of milk, bottled water, coffee, pop, juice, etc.).
