Beatties Ford Road Library History

• The original Beatties Ford Road Library

opened April 1997, replacing the historical

North Branch that served this neighborhood

since 1957

• Located in the heart of Charlotte’s

Northwest business and residential corridor,

the branch serves a population with diverse

needs

• renovations began in Nov

2009 with limited hours

during initial phase

• in June 2010, drastic cuts

caused us to close the branch

and expedite renewal efforts

• renovation was paid for by

our funding partner,

Mecklenburg County

• in June 2011 the branch

reopened as a regional

with new spaces for

studying, meeting, and

exploring new

technology

• with 5700 additional sq

feet, the renovated

branch serves patrons of

all ages

Teens now have working booths and

dedicated study rooms for hitting the books

as well as a gaming zone for study breaks.

A new children's area features up to 18

computers to enhance early literacy.

The branch is also a great place for adults of

all ages and includes an additional community

room perfect for group meetings.

The library also now has more than 20 CPUs

dedicated solely for training sessions.

All of these enhancements will help the

Library to embrace the community and

contribute to the county goals of workforce

development enhancement and literacy.
