What is the AUP?

A contract you agree to each time you log on to the computers.

Promises you will make ethical decisions and use technology for education purposes.

Are a privilege

Without computers and technology, the educational process is limited. Examples: Research beyond school, state,

and nation to international areas. Helps reduce paper/pencil/textbook routine, etc.)

What happens if I violate the AUP?

Students will not engage in any illegal activity including copyright infringement, vandalism, or harassment on the computer.

You will be held financially responsible and disciplinary action will take place.

Vandalism

You will be financially responsible for any malicious damage or vandalism that you cause.

Vandalism is any attempt to harm or destroy the computer, the operating system, or any applications installed on the computer; or to tamper with another person’s data.

Financially Responsible

You may not alter the setup of any school computers or load programs or services without the permission of the School Technology Coordinator and/or principal.

This includes the desktop screen saver and email backgrounds.

Computer Defaults

The network administrators and the District Technology Coordinator have the right to access any information stored in your user directory (H Drive), in your computer email account, or on the current screen.

Your Information

In extreme cases criminal charges may be filed depending on the severity of the violation and the district's discretion.

You are to work on Computer Applications assignments ONLY when at your workstation.

If you finish your Computer Applications assignment and want to work on another teacher’s assignment, you must ask for permission first.

You ARE NOT to play games while in this room AT ANY TIME.

You cannot visit sites that have no educational purpose.

Ask permission before you get on the Internet and let the teacher know why you are using the Internet.

Internet Usage--Educational Sites

All of your internet traffic of site visits and duration of time on the pages are logged.

Students have lost computer privileges because of inappropriate sites that were logged.

You must NOT access social media such as Facebook or other chat areas.

Word of Advice: Watch what you put on Facebook that will hurt you in the future.

The use of your school email is for educational purposes only.

The content of your mail will be randomly checked.

You cannot open, forward, or create chain letters, joke of the day, prayer of the day, or any other form of non-educational email.

All third party email accounts (i.e. hotmail, yahoo mail, etc.) are expressly prohibited.

You are not to send harassing emails to anyone for any reason.

Again, emails are logged and all content can be used against you.

You must not attempt to access the network with other user accounts or give your account information to another user.

Doing so will result in the immediate loss of your user account and computer privileges.

Your user account, which gives you access to the internet, email, and your home folder, may be terminated and privileges taken away if you do not follow these AUP guidelines.

Warning!!! Do not ignore the AUP. Students have lost their privilege to the

computers and technology, thus failing this class due to not being able to complete their assignments.
