• Each new commercial aircraft supports 6 to 7 crews• Military Experience no longer required (but helpful in

gaining experience). Military cutbacks result in fewer trained pilots, the majority of new pilots are now civilian trained

• Mandatory retirement is 65 years old• Being “paid to fly” starts with becoming an Instructor

(CFI) and increases thereafter with experience and higher ratings.
