What To Expect With Z-lasik SurgeryAll Laser Z-Lasik surgery is performed on a pa-

tient’s cornea, which provides most of the focusingpower when light enters the eye. Topical anestheticdrops are applied to the eye. The surgeon first uses aspecial Ziemer LDV femtosecond laser to create a thinlayer of corneal tissue that can be folded back (acorneal flap). Then, another type of laser (an AllegrettoEye-Q excimer laser) is used to reshape the underly-ing cornea, painlessly. After the excimer laser treat-ment, the corneal flap is repositioned and bonds backinto place naturally. The corneal reshaping improvesthe focusing power of the cornea. Although no one canpromise patients “perfect” vision, most Laser VisionCorrection patients with mild to moderate prescriptionswith or without astigmatism, do achieve 20/20 or bet-ter vision.
