ABSTRACT
Financial analysis is a logical way of inspecting the financial position of a company. It helps to evaluate and understand the company’s position. It also helps the creditors, investors, and managers answer the following questions: Is the company profitable? Does the company can control costs? Can the company pay the interest and principal on its debt? Is the company liquid enough to run its operations? Is there any chance of being bankrupt? Lots of other questions can be answered trough financial analysis. Furthermore, financial statement analysis reduces our reliance on gut feelings, guesses, and intuition. Most importantly, it reduces risk and uncertainty in decision making. Therefore, to be assured, reduce risk and uncertainty and avoid bankruptcy it is necessary to analyze financial statements by using valid tools and techniques.
Financial performance of any company can be easily evaluated through its profitability, liquidity, solvency and activity ratios. Ratio analysis is one of the easiest and widely used tools to evaluate the financial health of a company. In this paper the financial position of Lafarge Surma Cement Limited (LSC) has been evaluated by using ratio analysis. Alongside the chances of bankruptcy in the near future is evaluated with the help of Z score developed by Prof. Edward I. Altman (1968). From the study of five years (2008 to 2013), it is realized from the analysis that profit earning capacity and short term investing capacity of LSC is not so good, but its financing position is improving day by day. Through the analysis of liquidity and profitability ratios it has been observed that neither the liquidity position nor the profitability ability of the company is satisfactory. If we talk about the solvency condition of LSC, Z-score indicates that there is a probability of financial embarrassment in the near future.
The study was based on secondary data collected from published annual reports of the concerned company. The available data were analyzed to test the financial health of the companies by using ratio analyses which were broadly selected from three categories such as liquidity, solvency and profitability. Various descriptive statistical tests like average (Avg), standard deviation (S.D), maximum (Max), minimum (Min) and correlation test (CORREL) were also applied in the present study. The data were evaluated by using MS-Excel software for finding the relationship between the adopted variables. The study clarifies how these variables relate to each other.

A BEHAVIORAL STUDIES: EVALUATION ON JUDGMENT OF THE HEURISTIC BIASED IN THE PROFESSIONAL FINANCIAL WORLD
SITA DELIYANA FIRMIALY, S.E. DEDDY P. KOESRINDARTOTO, PH.D
SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT - ITB sita.deliyana@sbm-itb.ac.id
ABSTRACT
This paper explores the likelihood of heuristic based judgment in the process of decision making
of the professional in financial world. The simplicity of this method has proven to be useful and
quite effective. However, sometimes this simple way of probability assessing are much more
likely tend to create extreme biases and severe systematical error, due to the unclear
methodology performed in order to achieve the expected results. The present paper replicates
the evaluation on heuristic based judgment with two groups of respondents, the first group
consists of social sciences and financial analysts, who understand perfectly about the financial
world, while the second group consists of non-social sciences analysts, who in this paper we
concluded, has none to limited knowledge about the financial world. The objectives of this
recent paper was build to assess how the probability assessment in the process of decision
making can be different between these two groups of samples and then measured how far is
the discrepancy between both. The expected result of this experiment is an empirical validation
that prove judgment based on heuristics indeed play a very significant role in the process
decision making of these both groups of professionals.

CULTURAL IMPERIALISM IN THE MASS MEDIA AND THE EFFECTS TO THE THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES
Azreen Fareza Sudin Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation
azreen@apu.edu.my
ABSTRACT
This conceptual paper will explore one of the most prominent critical stances that have been
adopted towards the globalization of cultures: the discourse of cultural imperialism in mass
media. It will focuses on the idea of globalization and the arguments surrounding it are
increasingly part of our lives and from academic discussions. For example, the complex interplay
between economic and cultural aspects of globalization is discussed by Kevin Robins (1997).
What Robin’s account brings out well are the complexities, the contradictions and ambiguities
and the uncertainties in globalization process. Globalization is complicated and perplexing
process in terms of the cultural politics it poses for us. The cultural “live experience” of
globalization thus be grasped as transformation in the way we experience our everyday local
lives as they are increasingly penetrated by distant globalizing forces. The detail of this paper
will investigate on cultural imperialism issues that arises from the process of globalization, de-
regulation in mass media and the new technology such as internet among society.

This concept paper entitled “Conceptualizing a Strategic Communication Process Model for
Crisis-Mode Public Relations Management” overviews a strategic communication process
through crisis communication models such as crisis situation model and several types of crisis
that could happen in organizations. The processes and models will also need to be further
analysed and discussed based on previous crisis communication that had happened globally. It
will also investigate on the limitations of each model. The paper has further revealed on how
communication technologies could help and dampen the crisis communication and
management process and the roles of public relations practitioners in organisation during the
crisis situation.

SKILLS PARAMETER FOR EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT FROM THE ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE
Unnaisha N Mohamed,
International Business School, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia

Shamema Ayob Khan, Shajetha Ayob Khan, Kulliyah of Economics and Management Sciences, International Islamic University Malaysia
ABSTRACT
Management Development is an aspect of HRD that covers the evaluation of executive level
employees or prospective executive level employees and training them to be well equipped for
higher positions or higher competencies. Building managerial skills through Management
Development option is crucial to the effective functioning and growth of the organization as
retaining managerial position takers is essential in maintaining the organizational goals itself.
This paper intends to develop a skills parameter in the stratification of skills among the
employees; can it be management level or various equidistant positions across units in an
organization from the Islamic perspective. Management Development is focused on developing
individual skills and abilities to ensure the availability of managers equipped with the right set of
competencies and experience as managerial skills are asset to the managers and organization
alike. The successful tackle of decisive situations depends on the skills parameter of the
manager rather than the specific skills needed based on a job description. This paper will discuss
the importance of a skills parameter that would suggest the out of the box skills induction
through management development from the Islamic perspective. The objective of this study is to
expedite the efforts of management development in producing managers and role takers with
the ability to establish needed skills when required from the Islamic perspective. It has to be
understood that management development is meant to facilitate learning and nurturing, the
desired outcome by any management development program resides in the actions of the
participants themselves. "And that man can have nothing but what he strives for" (Al-Qur’an
53:39). This paper will see the scenario from the Islamic perspective as more and more
organizations are adapting the Islamic way of work as it is very much in accordance to the
ethical aspect of professionalism.

FINANCIAL DOLLARISATION: THEORY & MONETARY POLICY;THE CASE OF CAMBODIA
Ahmed Zaki, DBA. Lecturer at Zaman University.
azaki@zamanuniversity.edu.kh
ABSTRACT
Financial dollarisation is defined as the holding by residents of foreign currency assets and
liabilities that has been placed at the forefront of the policy debate in developing economies.
The reasons include its alleged influence on the conduct of monetary policy and; most
prominently; the impact of exchange rate depreciations on the solvency of dollar debtors (the
balance sheet effect). However, the vast analytical literature on these issues contrasts with the
scarcity of empirical work to support or refute these implications. This paper contributes to fill
this gap.
The paper revisits the evidence on the determinants of financial dollarisation, and finds that
financially dollarised economies display a more unstable demand for money, a greater
propensity to suffer banking crises after a depreciation of the local currency, and slower and
more volatile output growth, without significant gains in terms of domestic financial depth. In
this light, the case for an active de-dollarisation policy is concluded.
Keywords: Financial dollarisation, depreciation of the local currency, monetary policy, &
growth.

FAKTOR KETIDAKPATUHAN ZAKAT PENGAJIAN DALAM KALANGAN BELIA DI
LEMBAH KLANG

Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor noraini.shamsuddin@kuis.edu.my
apabila umur semakin meningkat tua.
(68.4%) responden menunaikan tanggungjawab membayar cukai pendapatan tetapi hanya
41.2% menunaikan zakat penggajian. Maka terdapat 27.2% belia yang dijangka layak
membayar zakat penggajian tetapi gagal melaksanakannya.

THE ESSENCE OF QUR'ANIC REVELATION: AN ANALYTICAL STUDY
ATTAHIR SHEHU MAINIYO DEPARTMENT OF ISLAMIC STUDIES,
USMANU DANFODIYO UNIVERSITY, SOKOTO attahirmainiyo@gmail.com
ABSTRACT
It is well known by the Muslim scholars that the essence of the Qur'an advocates doing
good to parents, relations and others as well as being honest and truthful in one's actions and
dealings. This is not unconnected with the fact that the Glorious Qur’an laid down, to man, a
complete and final system for his guidance in his earthly life. Considering the fact that the life of
an individual whether religious, social, economic including marriage and inheritance are
incorporated in it, the need to study the essence of Qur’anic revelation and reflect on its
contents became an important aspect in Muslims lives. On the basis of this, Almighty Allah
created the humankind and sent to them Prophets who read to them His Signs-Commands and
Prohibitions- so that they are not left unguided. Accepting and following the guidance brought
by these Prophets will, no doubt, amount to eternal bliss and eventually takes one to Paradise,
which has been the ultimate goal of every Muslim. And those who go contrary will end up in a
severe torment on the day of Requital. Taking this into consideration, Muslims believe, beyond
doubt that the essence of Qur'anic revelation, when properly understood and utilized, has the
potential of changing the religious, political, social as well as economic affairs of Muslims, the
world over. It is therefore against this background that this paper intends to analyze and discuss
the essence of the Qur'anic revelation. The paper is divided into three parts; the introduction
which gives an introductory touch on the subject discussed, the body which presents Qur'anic
essence as well as its classification drawing instances and discussion for better understanding of
the topic and lastly the conclusion in which summary of the paper and other topical issues were
expatiated.

IMPACT OF IFRS ON BANGLADESH’S BANKING SECTOR Maqbool Kader Quraishi
School of Business Independent University, Bangladesh Quraishimk@gmail.com
ABSTRACT
The adoption of IFRS around the world is occurring rapidly to bring about accounting quality
improvement through a uniform set of standards for financial reporting. The purpose of this
paper is to analyze the impact of IFRS on the Bangladeshi banking industry after the
implementation of IFRS. It may impact on positive way or negative way. So, we did a successful
research on banking industry. The variables of the research paper were compliances burden, tax
reporting practices, information technology, financial instruments, human resources and
impairment in advances. We made twelve questionnaires from the variables. First six
questionnaires were based on overall IFRS impact and the last six questionnaires were based on
six variables to identify whether they really made an impact on banking industry or not. We did
open ended questionnaires to auditors of four banks, which were based on variables that may
have an impact on banking industry, and we did our analysis on their given answers. And, at
last, we came to a result on our findings.

THEORY AND APPLICATION OF ISLAMIC POLITICAL IDEAS WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO SULTAN MUHAMMAD BELLO’S ADMINISTRATION
Muhammad Dahiru Shuni
ABSTRACT
Sultan Muhammad Bello was among the Sokoto triumvirate who wrote extensively in almost all
the branches of human endeavours. In the area of politics and leadership he surpassed others, as
apart from his father the Shaykh, he had no equal, thus, he wrote a lot as far as Islamic political
ideas are concerned. In addition he had been into leadership circle, he was an administrator of a
large Caliphate of Sokoto for about twenty years after administering many leadership positions
during the life time of his farther the Shaykh. It is the intend of this article to critically review the
works of Sultan Muhammad Bello with a view to extract his political theories and to examine
their application during his administration and beyond. The article will also study the structure of
the Caliphate during his time, how was he able to administer it as Dar al Islam? In addition, been
it as an Islamic state where Shari’ah prevailed, had there been relevant cases that justified it as
such? To achieve this objective, his theories and practices will be discussed under different sub-
titles. In doing so, a cross-referencing would also be made on the political theories and practices
of Shaykh cUthman bn Foduye and his brother Shaykh cAbd Allah in the areas of their agreement
or otherwise.

ABSTRACT
Micro finance has existed in Indonesia since the late 19th century with the founding of the Bank
Perkreditan Rakyat (BKR) and Lumbung Desa. At first, BMT was born with the term Baitu
Tamwil (BT), with a background of several reasons. The function of BT is the same as BMI or
BPRS that is an Islamic Financial Institutions. The term BMT was began since 1995, after Bank
Muamalat Indonesia (BMI) established. BMT is one form of non-bank LKM (Lembaga Keuangan
Mikro) that is informal. BMT has a resource base on the supreme law of Muslims those are
Quran, Hadits and Ijtihad.
BMT developments in Indonesia are the impact that can be seen from the economic
development of Islamic shariah. The factors affecting the development are the enormous
dissatisfaction in terms of the settlement economic issues and the way that has been used.
Another factor is the importance of neo-classical economics that has a narrow base and has no
realistic assumptions toward humans. A further factor is the imbalance between the rich and
the poor, who occurs unsuccessfully solved by the service of justice and honest competition.

ABSTRACT
Although the concept of real options has created considerable excitement in the strategy and
management fields, empirical evidence still can’t provide a whole picture of the determinants
and consequences of sequential behavior. Therefore, the specific interest of this study is the
application of real options theory on the choice of sequential mode, especially focus on the
situations of cross-border and cross-industry acquisition. This study further presents acquirer’s
portfolio of options and slack resources as important moderators in affecting sequential
acquisition and its value. A sample of 511 cases of completed acquisitions is collected from the
Taiwan high-tech companies. The finding indicate that cross-industry entry has positive impact
on the use of sequential acquisition, the more diversify the acquirer is, the more likely sequential
acquisition been choose. The finding also point out that sequential acquisition has negative
impact on acquirer’s value of growth options, and organizational slack have no impact on the
relationship between sequential acquisition and value of growth options.

CONSTRUCTING A FINANCIAL CONDITIONS INDEX FOR NIGERIA
YAABA BABA NMADU Department of Statistics Central Bank of Nigeria
yaabakatcha@yahoo.com
ABSTRACT
The challenges and opportunities in the dynamism of the structure of the financial system, as
well as the multiplicity and sometimes conflicting macroeconomic objectives of Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN) has significantly affected the choice of instruments and the operating procedure
of monetary policy to achieve the desired objectives. The combination of varying domestic and
external instruments helps CBN to harness the potentials of both domestic and external
macroeconomic factors on the overall financial conditions of the economy. To determine the
relative importance of both the domestic and external influences on monetary policy
formulation, this study constructs and estimates a financial conditions index (FCI) for Nigeria
between 2004Q1 and 2013Q4. It brings together the four key channels of monetary policy
transmission mechanism, namely interest rate, exchange rate, credit and equity channels and
applies Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) to estimate the weights of the variables used for
the construction of the FCI. The result gives prevalence to exchange rate channel, follow by
equity channel, credit channel and then interest rate channel. The resultant FCI traces fairly well
the policy direction of the CBN for the studied period, hence can serve as an adequate gauge of
monetary policy stance of the Bank. The study, therefore, recommends the official adoption of
the FCI as an intermediate target of monetary policy by the CBN and a gauge of the stance of
monetary policy by the financial market players and participants.

In this paper, a review of the literature on the taxation system with the optimization approaches
is reported. A review on the timeline of the taxation based on optimization approaches is made.
A discussion on the types of the taxation system and the application of the optimization
methods are given. The gaps of years are decreasing down and this shows a positive sign for the
research development in taxation system. On the other hand, this paper finds that the types of
the taxation system are personal income tax, corporate income tax and local tax. In addition, in
the past literatures, it is found that the frequently used optimization approach in the taxation
system research is nonlinear programming approach rather than other optimization methods.
For the conclusion, a limited literature is available on the linear programming method that is
applied in Goods and Services Tax (GST) or Value Added Tax (VAT) area.

ABSTRACT
The current trend in urban transportation is the introduction of satellite-based dispatch systems
for taxi services which consists of a real-time platform for mobile phone users to book taxi
services with a simple tap. The service helps bridge the supply gap between taxi drivers and
demand from users in urban areas. The mobile application is popular simply because it reflects
the essence of urban mobility; accessible, convenient and time-responsive. However, this trend
is receiving backlash from taxi drivers all over the world, even though customers favor this kind
of services. Hence, this review aims to provide a clear understanding on the impact of
technological advancement for taxi system. An extensive literary review on the impact of app-
based taxi services for urban mobility will be done throughout this review by collecting and
critically classify on past researches; in order to identify the gap between them. The review will
facilitate an understanding of the extent of technological advancement in urban mobility, as
well as provide an extensive literature review for future research.

moment when they receive the package. However, most of e-commerce firms have less
intention towards the parcel packaging design.
This study focuses on the evaluation of costumer perceived value and loyalty on designed parcel
package in Mainland China. One successful case study of designed parcel package is used in this
study to be compared with ordinary parcel package, in order to reveal customer responses
toward designed parcel package. The sampling of this study is con11centrated on China

general employees in the context of Halal within their activities. Due to the high demand of
halal product and as consumers become more sensitive towards Halal integrity, the adaption
towards Halal logistics concept has become crucial. As a service based industry, human capitals
are an important asset which determines the successfulness of the operational performance

ABSTRACT
The manufacturing sector has been contributing significantly to the Malaysia’s economy in terms
of its contribution to GDP, employment, and exports. This paper examines the determinants of
employment of labor in the Malaysian manufacturing sector. We estimate the model using the
instrumental variable technique and the results suggest that the real wage rate, output
represented by the value added, and capital represented by the value of fixed assets are all
important determinants of labor employment in manufacturing sector in Malaysia. This implies
that implementing policies to encourage capital accumulation and overall economic growth are
indeed helpful to boost employment in the manufacturing sector. The elasticity of labor
employment with respect to wage rate is 1.86 suggesting that labor employment is responsive to
the changes in wage rate; a 1% decrease in wage rate increases employment by 1.86% which will
then spur the manufacturing output which are mostly exported to foreign countries. This suggests
that employment in the manufacturing sector could be created through wage reduction, increase
in capital and output level.

ABSTRACT
Workforce has becoming one of the trends in Malaysia in 21st century workforce and hiring
expatiate is one of the approach in having diverse workforce in organization. However, hiring
expatriate can be very costly. Malaysian Immigration Policy (MIP) stated that expatriates need
to be paid minimum of RM5,000 per month and even some are eligible for extra benefit.
Expatriates’ job performances certainly contribute an impact towards organization performance
and revenues. It is company’s intention to invest on their workers especially the expatriates and
in return they will improve company’s performance. The purpose of this is to identify the drivers
of job performance among expatriates in ABC Company. This study has been conducted with
ABC Company situated in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Oil and gas industry is a very competitive
industry as it is a major contributor for global economy. In order to compete with other game
players in the industry, ABC Company has taken the initiative to hire expatriates as they believe
it would improve company’s performance. It is approximately ten percent of all employees
based in Kuala Lumpur are expatriates. This study attempts to analyze the relationship between
the dependent variable (i.e. job performance) and independent variables (i.e. salary, working
environment and job security). It is conclusive which also meant to examine relationships
between variables and to assist the decision maker in selecting the best course of action. The
goal of this descriptive study is to offer to the researchers the main variables affecting job
performance in ABC Company. All three (3) factors have shown to have positive relationship
with job performance. Job security has shown to have the strongest relationship with job
performance. Job security can give a great impact towards organizations and individuals
(Ahmad et al, 2010). For organizations, most of the competent workers tend to leave the
organizations in order for them to accept a better opportunity in the market. By having a clear
focal point, this research can turn the drivers of job performance for expatriate at ABC Company
from a theoretical idea into something more practical. It is important to take pro-active
attention by focusing on one factor that may improve job performance at ABC Company and
other organization as well.

ABSTRACT
The Malaysian Government announced that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) would replace of
Sales and Service Tax on 1 April 2015. The government would implement the GST system once
everyone understands and familiar with the system. This study is aimed to discover the
understanding and preparedness towards the implementation on the GST among managers in
manufacturing companies in Malaysia. Two constructs namely understanding and preparedness
were used to measure the GST perceptions. A survey was conducted by using mailed
questionnaire to acquire the data from 2,600 managers of manufacturing companies
throughout Malaysia. Only 173 responded where two questionnaires were found unusable
giving almost 7% response rate. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The reliability
and validity tests were also performed on the two constructs. Overall, the results indicated that
manufacturing companies in Malaysia have good understanding and well prepared towards the
GST. All the items loading in the two constructs except one item (slightly less than 3.0) have
mean score of above 3.00. The results of reliability for both constructs had shown the Cronbach
alpha value above 0.70. Furthermore, the results of construct validity for both constructs also
shown KMO values are more than 0.80. The results of the study provide invaluable inputs for
the Government to implement GST to manufacturing companies in Malaysia.

ABSTRACT
The last two decades have witnessed an extensive growth in foreign direct investment flows to
the developing countries. These investments are playing an important role in the economic
development and growth of the developing economies. As a result, there is now severe
competition among the developing countries to attract foreign direct investment for which they
offer certain incentives to foreigners for investing in these countries. This paper therefore
examines the role of foreign direct investment in the economic development of Pakistan. Over
the years Pakistan has offered many incentives to foreigners for investing in Pakistan, however,
the real nature and role of such investments has not been explored in detail in the existing
literature so far. For understanding and investing this scenario this study analyse the
relationship between foreign direct investments with a number of variables which are regarded
as the main determinants of economic development. The results suggest that foreign direct
investment has played an important role in reducing poverty, increasing competition, creating
employment and transfer of technology which has resulted in a sustained economic growth in
Pakistan.

ABSTRACT
In this study the relationship between corporate governance on financial Performance of KSE listed firms is examined for the period 2008 to 2012. The sample consists of 50 non-financial firms listed on KSE. To measure the quality of firm level corporate governance the multifactor rating system is used. It covers the broad set of governance practices and various categories. The CG-index is constructed comprised of three sub-indices board composition, ownership and shareholding and transparency disclosure and auditing. There are 22 proxy indicators for each sub index; eight indicators for board composition, seven for ownership and shareholdings and seven indicators are related to transparency, disclosure and auditing. The financial performance of the firms is measured through value based management and accounting based performance metrics as EVA, CFROI and ROE respectively. The multiple regression and descriptive statistics is used to analyze the impact of corporate governance on financial performance of the firms. The result shows that corporate governance has significant positive impact on value based performance measure EVA. It also shows positive impact of corporate governance with value based performance measure CFROI and accounting based performance measure ROE but results are not significant. The results of control variable leverage shows positive impact on EVA but results are not significant and it shows negative impact on CFROI and ROE. The only results of leverage are significant with ROE. The other control variable firm size shows positive impacts with performance of the firms but results are not significant except with EVA. It shows that good governance does matter in Pakistan and it enhances the value and performance of the firms. The good level of governance creates value for the firm and maximization of wealth for shareholders in Pakistan, but still a lot of area remained uncovered. There is need of tight control and strong emphasis on compliance with code of corporate governance in Pakistan by SECP. The firms in Pakistan are mostly institution or family owned and they have tight control on corporate affairs, hence it demands the more number of independent or nominee directors on board. The cross shareholding and pyramid structures of ownership also affects the good governance practices in firms and it becomes a difficult task to extract actual information from available data in case of ownership and shareholding. There is less number of representations of minority shareholders on board in case of KSE listed firms. The area of transparency, disclosure and auditing is more emphasized by SECP in recent years. Hence it gets better ratings in our constructed index. Our results shows that corporate governance affect performance and decision making of firms in Pakistan to some extent, but still there is need of uplifting the standards of corporate governance in Pakistan.
pelancong domestik.

ABSTRACT
Annual sales of music records has been decreased at a 20% rate every year since 1998 in
Taiwan, because of the convenience and prevalence of downloading pirate music online. The
total record sales in 2002 is less than half of that in 1997. While the pop music market was
suffering, the number of indie music group had soared from 500-600 in the year of 2005 to 1500
in 2009. At the same time, indie pop music that between pop music and indie music was not
only survive, even has become a main stream in Taiwan today. The survival and development of
indie pop music in a decreasing music market are closely related to the interaction between
indie pop musicians and their fans. Indie pop musicians not only keep holding on their unique
styles of music and expressing their thoughts, release their new online in a wide range, but like
to interact with fans in close distance in smaller size live performances. The interaction and
experience between fans and fan object in live events, the shared memory between fans and
fans, wearing T-shirts with the logo of same fan object and even more highlighted behaviors
(collection and imitating, etc.) have become a value co-creation between fans and fans, as well
as fans and fan object. On the other hand, indie pop musicians do not deny their value in pop
music, embracing the business-oriented operation and more fans. This way of interaction has
won more fans for the fan object of indie pop music than indie music, and more loyal fans than
pop music. The fans are willing to buy not only the music itself, but also support to fan object. In
sum, the unique operation model to some extent has created the high loyalty, high consumption
and high co-creation of fans to fan object. This study is to discuss the co-creation between fans
or fandom and fan object, as well as from inside of the fandom. Based on the case studies of
indie pop music in Taiwan, the study discusses the value and process of co-creation between
stakeholders.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT
This present study aimed to investigate the difference in barriers for physical activity
participation among Malaysian women civil servants within their physical activity levels. A
sample of 447 women civil servant aged from 18 to 59 years old completed a set of physical
activity questionnaire and their current levels of physical activity. The results showed that sixty-
eight percent of the women were classified as inactive women that indicated that majority were
not physically active enough to achieve positive health outcomes. Besides, the results also
revealed that there are significant differences between barriers to physical activity and physical
activity levels (F (4, 436) = 4.86, p = .00; Wilks’ Lambda = .74; partial eta squared = .07). Hence,
women in later stages exhibited that they had also perceived higher in resources and skills,
personal well-being, and cultures and religiosity barriers than women in earlier stages.
However, there were significant differences in mean barriers among those women according to
their physical activity levels. Through the identification of barriers between each physical
activity levels, better intervention programs may be implemented to enhance the participation
to physical activity among these women civil servant. This finding also provides a future insight
to better understand the physical activity behaviour among Malaysian women civil servants.

ABSTRACT
Human Resource Development (HRD) is playing a major role in today’s business world to
enhance HR skills, attitudes and knowledge. HRD can be defined as a set of systematic &
planned activities designed by an organization to provide its member with opportunities to learn
necessary skills to meet current & future job demands. HRD scope has built on four major
functions such as career development, individual development, performance management and
organizational development. Purpose of this study was to find how can be applied principles in
Mahamangala Sutta to the sub component of individual development: development of skills,
knowledge and behaviour. Past research articles are rare in religious perspective which related
to the HRD discipline. Then the researcher has involved to filling this gap by focusing on one of
the most well-known suttas to explore its meanings with scope of HRD. Researcher depended on
Thripitaka (contains three "baskets" of teachings: a: Sutta Pitaka (pyxidium), Vinaya Piṭaka and
an Abhidharma Piṭaka) and other Buddhism books.
Mahamangala sutta explained thirty eight principles for individual development and this study
made a bridge from Buddhism to one side of the scope of HRD by identifying how those
principles categories under sub component in individual development at the organization level.
Application of principles in this selected sutta will create sound outcomes to the organization.
Because some practices which reveal in this sutta are currently practicing by organizations for
its success.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to determine the economic impacts on the economy of Ho Chi
Minh City (HCMC) that was hosting the 13th International Clubs Taekwondo Championship
including the Poomsae events held in the city between 7th and 9th of August, 2015. The result is
measured by the financial gain from spending of the organizers, team managers, coaches,
athletes, media, volunteers and the spectators. A systematic random sampling method was
used to determine the size (n) of the sample. Respondents were specifically asked to provide
information related to personal expenses during their visit to HCMC. The methodology consisted
of two different types of questionnaires: one for the spectators and one for the participants.
The target groups included organising officials (n=4), team managers/officials/coaches (n=44),
athletes (n=68), media (n=34), volunteers (n=28) and spectators (n=300). The total direct
economic impact for the championship was estimated at about one-third million $US dollars.
This additional economic activity would not have occurred for HCMC if the event had not taken
place. The study has suggested that there was a significant direct economic impact of around
one-third million $US dollars for HCMC. Understanding the financial value that an event created
for the host brings financial gain to that community. Therefore it was an attractive product
offered by the community. The organisers should look to bring other events to the city,
especially those where large numbers of visitors are expected to stay overnight in HCMC.
Naturally, the event then becomes a mutually benefit to the organizers as well as the host city.
Both have much to gain from a successful event.

FISCAL, MONETARY AND TRADE POLICIES. THE SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPACTS ON
FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENTS (FDI) IN DEVELOPING ECONOMIES

ABSTRACT
In recent years, the world has witnessed an increase in the global integration of economies and
liberalization of trade therefore resulting in the tremendous escalation of foreign investments
around the world. In fact, almost every country of the world has experienced an increase in
globalization with regards to international trade and FDI (Kumar, 2003). This is because in
addition to cost and efficiency benefits to multinational companies, numerous research have
also attributed FDI to the positive driving of economic growth, facilitating economic
development, national income generating as well as employment provision (Nunnenkamp,
2004).
As a result of the ever increasing importance of FDI, several studies has been directed towards
finding a consensus in the determinants and impacts of FDI investments in the economy. This
study however, aims to investigate several developing country’s fiscal, monetary and trade
policies in order to determine their significance and impact on FDI in the host countries. In order
to grasp an insight into the topic of discussion it is important to highlight how these of the policy
measures acts as a catalyst in the promotion or otherwise influencing of FDI flows.
With regards to fiscal policies, governments can influence FDI flows by the use of fiscal policy
instruments such as methods of resource allocation, aggregate demand and extent of economic
activities (Göndör and Nistor, 2012). Therefore, FDI flows is affected by the government’s
control of certain macroeconomic variables such as fiscal incentives or disincentives as a result
of taxation. Examples of major fiscal measures by governments include tax exemptions, reliefs
on corporate taxation, tax deferrals, tax credits as well as allowances for certain activities
(Sauvant et al., 2014). On the other hand, monetary policies plays a vital role in the attraction of
FDI in the sense that it creates a more or less conducive economic environment through inflation
and exchange rate controls (Elly and Ojung’a, 2013). Finally, trade policies which is further
disaggregated into imports and exports policies influences FDI through restrictions on imports
and exports, tariff and non-tariff trade barriers, as well as regional trade agreements (OECD,
2006).
