CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES
Passport to a MUSICAL WORLD with your ACADIANA SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
Welcome to the 28th season of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra! I am extremely grateful for our community’s generous support of ASO and proud of the live, high quality music produced by our orchestra for over a quarter of a century. Encouraged by your enthusiastic support, we are continuing our new tradition of two concert series of Masterwork and Chamber Music programs. We dedicate each concert this season to special friends of the Acadiana Symphony who over the last three decades made the most significant contributions to our organization.
This will be my 10th season at the artistic helm of the ASO and I have selected repertoire that will take you on special musical journeys to charming places and memorable times. Our concerts will explore a wide gamut of orchestral literature from the world of religious music to the magic of circus. Transported by compositions created by some of the greatest masters, you will visit Paris in the 1920s and Vienna as it was 200 years ago. You will also experience the sounds of the Polish mountainsides and the breathtaking sights of ancient Rome.
Our talented orchestra will be joined on stage by world-class instrumentalists and singers. We will also perform with outstanding Louisiana soloists as well as our own ASO chorus and children’s chorus.
We offer you a passport to these enchanting musical voyages and hope you will travel with us every step of the way. With great excitement, I look forward to seeing you at the first downbeat! Bon voyage!
Sincerely,
MARIUSZ SMOLIJMUSIC DIRECTOR and CONDUCTOR

PARIS 1922: ALL THAT JAZZ
A perfect Mother’s Day gift! Delightful music and charming
poetry – all dedicated to our mothers. Winner of the
International New Orleans Piano Competition Dustin
Gledhill, ASO chamber players and local poets (young and
young at heart) will create a special concert your mother will
never forget.
The French capital during the 1920s was the most exciting
musical center in the world. All kinds of musical sounds and
styles entertained Parisians during that decade including
jazz-influenced works by French composer D. Milhaud
(Le Creation du monde) and then-revolutionary jazz
compositions by C. Porter and G. Gershwin. Do not miss
this special musical voyage!
