Discussion
Where would you like your school to be in five years?
What would you like to do in the next year or two?
What is one thing you can start doing next week to expand study abroad?
Moving Forward
Audience Funding Ideas Interest free loans to help students pay for things like plane
tickets and passports prior to the point where financial aid is released. Students can then pay loans back after financial aid is dispersed One institution mentioned they allow students to pay these off
anytime before graduation Incorporating summer programs into a semester class so
students get financial aid months before they go Critical Language Scholarships Offer scholarships that students can apply for freshman year
and then use as they have time over their four years (person using this program said there are accounting complications but it’s a great program)
Audience Funding Ideas Have a fund that alumni and others pay into that then can be
used for loans Reduce any stigma associated with low cost programs by
presenting them as a special opportunity not a low-end program Have an endowed pool of money that gets divided among all
study abroad students. University can collect and donate airline miles to students Have a student fund Have an endowment for university that university employees
can pay into to fund a scholarship
