Art Nouveau

Morgan Petitpas

(France 1895-1905)

• “Art Nouveau” translates to “New Art”• Art Nouveau was often shown through usable

everyday objects, posters, and architecture.• Art Nouveau used forms and patterns found in

nature. • Art Nouveau was characterized by smooth and rounded textures with intricate lines and flowering designs.

My Inspiration• I chose Art Nouveau because I am often

drawn to its organic shapes and convoluted patterns.

• I used the slab method and the hollowing method for my vase.

• Similarities between my piece and classic Art Nouveau pieces include: roundedness, two thin handles, elements of nature, cut-out sections, the blue-green color, and the fact that it is an everyday object.
