Artist Statement

Art is important to me because I have been surrounded by it all my life. My dad was an artist. He did pottery for 40 years. He and I would take trips to the art gallery as often as we could. Painting is my favourite form of art. Salvador Dali is my favourite painter, when I saw his exhibit I fainted. Art has influenced my life in many different ways. I also like to use photography to express myself. I also enjoy painting in water colours.

Biography

Nicole RobertsBorn in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 28th 1997For the past four months, I have been apart of the Youth WITH ART Community Art Project at Among Friends. During those four months I have been taking photos with a Holga film camera, building dioramas and mapping where I feel most at home. I took many pictures at home, along my front street as well as Assiniboine Park. I took all of my pictures in April and May, so there are a lot of flowers and trees featured in the pictures. My pictures show how plants grow in the spring.
