In early 2011, the French government announced that it was issuing an international call for bids
for the installation of a total of 3 GW of offshore wind capacity.
The consortium Ailes Marines partnering Iberdrole, Eole RES, Neoen Marine, and AREVA was
awarded the Saint-Brieuc Bay project : a 500 MW wind farm located over 16 km from the shore, to
be installed between 2018 and 2020
A new call for tender was announced in 2013, for 1 GW with two field : Le Treport and
Noirmoutier-Yeu
AREVA is associated with GDF Suez, EDPR and Neoen Marine for those two projects
Bids will be submitted on November 29th.
To supply the French projects, as well as Belgium and the Southern UK, AREVA will settle an
industrial base in Le Havre to produce nacelle and blades
A local supply chain is being built to associate French companies in the offshore wind
development
