What’s the best way to attain British citizenship?

• The British Government prescribes a Form AN called Application Naturalisation to become a British Citizen.

• Make a copy of the application form & Fill the details and send it to the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).

Am I eligible for UK Citizenship?

A person can submit an application to become a British citizen provided he or she meets a number of criteria:

Eligibility #1

Must be aged 18 or over

Eligibility #2

Must be of a ‘sound mind’

Eligibility #3

Needs to be of good character, with an intention to continue

living in the UK

Eligibility #4

Should be able to communicate in English

Eligibility #5

Should have passed the ‘Life in the UK’ test or completed ESOL

Eligibility #6

Prospective applicants must have lived in the UK for the last 5years from date of application

Eligibility #7

They must not have spent more than 450 days outside the UK during those five years and

Eligibility #8

No more than 90 days outside the UK in the last 12 months in

that five-year period.

They must have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)

in the UK

Eligibility #10

They must have had indefinite leave to remain in the UK for the

last 12 months

Eligibility #11

They must have abided by the immigration laws while residing

in the UK.
