The left brain is designed to think logically (to follow rules).

The Left Brain is More Trained

Traditional society trains people to follow rules. Why?

To keep order and peace.

Easier to govern, to organize, or to control.

Why are most people from traditional societies left-brain thinkers?

The Left Brain is Useful

The term “the box” refers to

The expectations of others

Following the rules

Doing the expected behaviour

This is good for social behaviour

This is good for usual problems

THE RIGHT BRAIN

The Right Brain is Less Trained

Traditional society does not train this brain. Why?

Because people who follow rules are easier to manage, to govern, to organize.

The Right Brain is Useful

Why is right-brain thinking necessary?

Creative thought is competitive advantage.

Creative thought can solve problems that cannot be solved in the box.

Your Competitive Advantage

Why is right-brain thinking necessary?

Creative thought is competitive advantage.

The right-brainer has more competitive advantage in the global marketplace.

Creative thought can solve problems that cannot be solved in the box.

The right-brainer can find solutions to problems where left-brainers cannot.

Your Competitive Advantage

In a society where most people are left-brainers, the right-brainer possesses more competitive advantage.

What kind of society do you live in?

In a world where most people are right-brainers, the left-brainer possesses more competitive advantage.

What kind of world do we live in?

USE YOUR RIGHT BRAIN

TO SOLVE PROBLEMS.

TRY THESE EXERCISES.

B. Think Outside the Box

Right-Brain Exercise #1

This activity shows you which of your brains is stronger, or more exercised.

Look at the next chart.

Read each item.

Say the color, not the words.

See how many mistakes you make.

If you make no mistakes, you are a balanced-brain type of person.

Right-Brain Exercise #2

Look at the picture next page.

What do you see: a young woman or an old woman?

If you see one, you could be a left-brainer.

If you see both, you could be a right-brainer.

Right-Brain Exercise #3

Look at the picture on the next page.

What do you see: a living thing or a nonliving thing?

If you see one, you could be a left-brainer.

If you see both, you could be a right-brainer.

Right-Brain Exercise #4

Look at the picture on the next page.

What do you see: a part of a person or a part of a thing?

If you see one, you could be a left-brainer. If you see both, you could be a right-brainer.

If you are a male, you might see a part of a person. If you are a female, might see a part of a thing.

If you are a left-brainer, you might tend to see things according to rules and patterns.

If you are a right-brainer, you might tend to see things in a more creative way.

Are you a left brain, a right brain, or a combination of both?

Know Yourself

You will need to know which of your two brains are more dominant, so that you can train the other brain.

You might also need to team up with someone of the opposite brain as yours in order to come up with a good project.
