• 313 communities were covered in Ar-Raqqa governorate with one or more protection issues.• 99% of covered communities reported lack/loss of civil documentation as occurring, 98% of covered communities reported housing, land and property
issues as occurring and 97% of covered communities reported early marriage as occurring.• Across population groups, 54% of covered communities described lack/loss of civil documentation as “very common” for one or more population
group, 23% of covered communities described housing, land and property issues as “very common” for one or more population group and 23% of covered communities described early marriage as “very common” for one or more population group.
• Adolescent girls are particularly affected by lack/loss of civil documentation with 30% of covered communities describing it as “very common” for this population group, as well as by early marriage with 16% of covered communities describing it as “very common” for this population group.
• 40% of covered communities described “restricting movement of women and girls” as a “commonly used” coping mechanism by one or more population groups.
• 38% of covered communities identified relying on humanitarian assistance as a coping mechanism that was “commonly used” by one or more population groups.
• Movement restrictions were reported as occurring in 85% of covered communities. Out of those, all reasons for movement restrictions score high, with 100% covered communities reporting screening processes and rules imposed by concerned authorities, 99% identifying check-points and lack of identify documents, 98% identifying explosive hazards, 97% curfews, 96% general violence and 94% activities of armed groups.
• Still out of those covered communities, all groups are highly affected by movement restrictions, especially people without civil documentation (99%), boys (98%), men and IDPS (97%), all other groups being identified as affected by 95% of those covered communities.
• Important needs for all protection services were identified for all population groups. All types of protection services (12 in total) were described as needed but not present for at least one population groups by 71% of covered communities or more. Legal services for civil documentation and HLP issues were reported as needed but not present for at least one population group by 86% of covered communities.
• 26% of covered communities reported concerns with humanitarian assistance. Out of the total covered, 49 communities reported that the assistance delivered was not “what the community needed”.
• Among covered communities having reported lack/loss of civil documentation as occurring, 84% covered communities referred to “concerns of approaching authority” among causes and 91% of covered communities indicated that “restricted freedom of movement” was one of the consequences.
• Among covered communities having reported lack/loss of civil documentation as occurring, all types of documents were difficult to obtain, among which passport and family booklets being identified as difficult to obtain by 90% of covered communities.
• 98% of covered communities reported housing, land and property issues as occurring. Out of those, 21% identified “property is unlawfully occupied by others” and 21% mentioned “lack of documents” as “very common” HLP concerns.
