Taxonomy  of  Educational  Objectives,  The  Classi:ication  of  Educational  Goals,  Handbook  I:  Cognitive  Domain  (1956)  by  Benjamin  Bloom  editor

Bloom  Taxonomy  may  have  had  minimal  in0luence  on  curriculum  development;  however,  it  has  a  strong  effect  on  evaluation.

Bloom’s  Taxonomy  proved  to  be  a  powerful  tool  for  objectives-­‐based  evaluation  in  that  it  allowed  for  a  level  of  detail  in  stating  goals  that  had  not  previously  been  readily  attained.    

1984  the  Association  for  Supervision  and  Curriculum  Development  (ASCD)  called  for  an  updated  to  the  Bloom’s  Taxonomy  to  include  current  research  and  theory  on  the  nature  of  knowledge.

Oversimpli0ied  the  nature  of  thought  and  the  relationship  to  learning  (Furst,  1994).

The  Evaluation  Level  should  not  be  the  0inal  step  in  thinking  and  problem  solving  (Bloom,  1956).

The  Hierarchical  structure  of  Bloom’s  Taxonomy  simply  did  not  hold  together  well  from  logical  or  empirical  perspectives  (Rohwer  and  Sloane,  1994).
