Our association with Fortnum & Mason is now in its second year and a cause for celebration in itself. William Fortnum came to London to seek his fortune and found employment in the Royal Household where he had responsibility for the daily replenishment of the royal candlesticks. Half-burned candles were his to do as he chose. He sold them and, with the proceeds, expanded into the grocery business.

The Grange is between the M3 and A31 nor th–east of Winchester and is located in the middle of a private estate (Grange Park) where several proper ties have the postcode of SO24 9TG. Please use the following routes – sp means signposted. Please note these are private houses. Follow the yellow signs.
FROM A31 / ALRESFORD Use postcode SO24 9TQ which will take you close to the east entrance to the estate
FROM M3 Use address New Lodge, Grange Park SO24 9TG which will take you close to the west entrance
FROM LONDON (ON M3) – Exit at junction 7, over the motorway onto the A30 (Basingstoke) for a few hundred yards, then turn left to Kings Worthy. This road becomes the A33. Stay on it for 9 miles, ignoring the left turn to East Stratton, but taking the next left turn(sp Northington and The Candovers). 2.5 miles later, at the crossroads, turn right sp Itchen Abbas. After 0.5 miles turn left into Grange Park.
Patrons from SW London may prefer to use the A3. At Guildford take the A31 towards Farnham and on to Alresford, then as below.
FROM WEST / OXFORD (ON A303) – A303 from Bullington Cross towards Basingstoke. After 4 miles, turn left sp Over ton and turn right under dual carriageway. Shor tly (less than a mile) after the Micheldever Oil Terminal, at the crossroads turn left (sp Northington and The Candovers). As above.
FROM WINCHESTER AND SOUTH (on M3) - M3 Junction 9/A34 (sp Newbury) and keep right onto A33 (sp Basingstoke). 2.5 miles after end of bypass, at Kings Worthy, turn right (sp Northington and The Candovers). As above.
FROM ALRESFORD AND SOUTH EAST (on A31) - A31 into Alresford. (Do not use the Alresford bypass). In the centre of Alresford, take right turn (sp The Grange, Swarraton) B3046. After 3 miles at bottom of hill turn left into Grange Park, giving priority to vehicles coming out of the Park.

WHEN TO ARRIVE Guests arrive from 3.30pm (Sunday 2.30pm). They take a walk on the terraces, eat some of their picnic, have tea in the library or a glass of champagne before the performance which begins at 5.20pm (Sunday 4.20pm).
DRESS Guests wear something stylish. Most wear black tie/long or short dress, but don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd: we encourage creativity.
TRAINS, TAXIS & CAR SHARING The website has train times and designates a London–Basingstoke train in order encourage guests on that train to share taxis (30 mins.)

ACCESS We ask that guests without good mobility are accompanied. When booking please indicate (a) whether or not you require wheelchair space (b) if you have other specif ic seating needs. The Grand Tier is not suitable for people with limited mobility. Guests may borrow a wheelchair from the Welcome Tent in the car park.
Mobility scooters cannot be used as there are slopes and vertiginous drops.
DOGS We do not have kennels. There is a £25 charge for dogs left with our dog walker. Please notify us.
